Default flat rotor screw stuck in hub

Hello-

I was helping a friend with his brake job, and the screw holding the rotor got stuck in the hub. We got the rotor off by dremeling the top of the bolt off, and the rotor yanked off.

Now there is 1/4" of bolt seized in the hub and vice grips bend trying to remove it.

What are our options? I thought of a few

-grind down the bolt and dont use one at all (his car is a BMW and they only have one of these bolts)

-Grind down and try to retap

-Attempt to lever it off with a long rod welded to the bolt (risks shearing the bolt)

Any ideas?

i would try to remove the bolt with an easy out or some sort of extractor. If that doesnt work cut it flush with the hub and drill it out

I know you can run them without the set screws but its always best to try to save them

thanks for all the advice. We ended up leaving about 1/8" just to hold the rotor from spinning and it worked just fine

The car is actually a BMW, it uses wheel bolts instead of wheel studs, so this way all the holes will line up when we go to put the wheel bolts back in
