1985 accord help
Hey there fellow accord lovers I know this is going to sound weird and all but I just but a 1985 Honda Accord 5 speed 1.8 carb. 4 door coupe for 100 dollars it has 245,000 miles on the engine, everything in or on this car is original except for brakes and tires but all and all is original even the battery. Anyways I had a question I am lookin to get a new motor for this car and I dont know what is a good motor to get I know the 1.8 is a great motor and all but I want something with a little more juice that will make this car unique. The motor I that is in it now is fine it is a sure thing starts up every time but it leaks oil have to add oil about twice a month so yeah if you could give me any pointers as to what I should do they will all be appriciated. Im new to this site and the honda world I have been a ford junkie pretty much my hole life but that all changed few months back so any pointers or suggestion would be greatly appriciated again thank you.

Congrats on the new car! I had a 1980 hatchy at one point, but the ex took it and sold it
The 1.8L is a pretty stout motor, but the old Hondas can be a little cranky. The 3bbl carb is a serious PITA, but Weber DGVs can be fitted that make tuning alot more user-friendly. The motors are from the E family http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_E_engine. Your same motor came with an option for dual sidedrafts or PGM-Fi.
Were it me, I would rebuild the motor, fit an EFI manifold, and look at Megasquirt for the fuel injection http://www.megasquirt.info/. It's really popular with the Volvo, VW, and Porsche guys converting from carb or Bosch systems to EFI. Cheap, adaptable, and light years ahead of 1985 Honda stuff.
