(sorry for the botched title)This topic only goes out to individuals who currently are racing their cars. not building a car. In hot rod, all motor too....what the hell.
1.) Mainly how many hours a week as far a maintence.(do you pull the tranny, check gears, etc. do you pull the pan and check all your bearings.)
2.) How many people does it take to operate your car at the track
3.) what ever else important i forgot to ask.

Depends how well everything is put together and setup. We haven't touched the motor all year in the red teg. except to check the bearings once after a 12.5k over rev. They were fine, and it went back together and has been running since. We broke 1 4th gear this year and we've worked on the clutch a few times. All in all, in over 100 passes this year, there was probably 10 hours of maintainence done. The rest of the time spent on the car was improving things that we found better ways to do.

This year was really bad for me with not having a sleeved block and then seeing how far I could push stock blocks. I spent as much timing working on my car as I do at work sometimes even longer. For the fall nats race I was up for 4 days straight with no sleep to get everything done. Between getting a new motor ready, redoing the fuel sump, taking the tranny apart and back together, putting it in the car and so on.
This year I spent all my free time and sleep time working on the car. But I also made it to pretty much every event on the east coast.

that is what i was figuring around10-20hrs aweek. one i dont have a honda so nothing is proven as far as developement. i am running a big crank with a 1.5 rod ratio or so. so i feel it important to pull the rod caps and mains while inthere. and check....mainly to protect my investment....no one likes trashing a complete motor. we have problems with the flywheel bolts coming loose(stretch bolts) we have since swithched to an arp bolt. but when you weld a flywheel to your crank. because of harmonics it becomes costly....usually costing you a flywheel and crank. and the tranny it never hurts to check your gears while you have your trans down. plus time to sort little setup thing out etc.
i figure it takes atleast 2 people to run a hotrod car on a given weekend at the track. to keep things stress free. for the most part.....and then you have to be able to trust the person helping.....just trying to figure out a new plan of attack for next year......to free up some time

not enough. Art, 30 minutes a day seems like a good thing for a car that runs already
I think the chassis is the most time consuming...Man, I'm over exhausted just looking at how much the chassis still needs.

We have 3 race cars, ALL MOTOR, HOTROD, SPORT FWD. We take 5 mins a day to look at and and shake our heads and wonder why we built theres 3 and not even finished.
Weekly, probably about 2-5 hours. We tune before every race, at least to check the motor and a/f. Also, a leakdown, compression test, oil change, water flush, check all bolt tightnesses, check brake/clutch fluid, New plugs, wash and vacuum the car, check tires, rims, lugs.
Just as long as it takes, not terribly long if everything is in good condition

About 20 hrs a week. Most of the time is teardown and maintinence of motors, but also alot of inspection and changing to make things more efficient. ProFWD knows no sleep, at least not if you want to win!!!
My all-motor car was another story. The motor purred like a kitten, but the tranny was my thorn. Nothing I could do but sit and look at the stock trans. I spent about 10 hrs. a week cursing at my transmission!
Then there is the sponsorship stuff to do, like paperwork and such. That is about 5 hrs. a week.
Add in the time Ron and I spent on GT3, and that equals about a 40 hr week.
