Default Best 16'' Performance Tire 205/45/16 for the price

Right now I have 205/40/16's Yokohama Parada Spec-2, on my civic, I hate these tires. Im looking to get some tires but in 45 series. I dont want to pay over $70-80 per tire and Im looking for something pretty aggressive.

What do you all think? Right now im leaning toward Proxes 4s or BFGoodrich g-Force Sport

Wow, you're looking at some of the worst tires you can get.

The first question you should ask yourself is whether you want to get an all-season tire like the Proxes 4 or an all-season tire like the others. Do you need to use these tires in snow or frigid cold, or only in moderate to warm temperatures? In moderate to warm temperatures, a summer tire gives MUCH better performance than an all-season tire. But summer tires are just bad news in snow and frigid cold. All-seasons are designed for those who need to use the same tires in snow and cold as they do the rest of the year (even though they're not as good in summer as a summer tire, or in winter as a winter tire).

If you want all-season tires, the Kumho Ecsta ASX is about as good as any all-season tire out there, way better than the Proxes 4, and a great deal for the money. $57 per tire in 205/45-16 after rebate. The Pirelli PZero Nero M+S is also a good all-season tire, but more expensive ($86) for similar performance.

If you want summer tires, the Kumho Ecsta SPT is a terrific deal. Very good dry traction, outstanding in rain, lasts a long time, and bargain priced. Far better in every way than the crappy Parada or g-Force Sport. $54 per tire in 205/45-16 after rebate. Other good summer tires for the money include the Avon Tech M500 ($81) and the Yokohama ES100 (also $81), but the Kumho is similar in performance for a lot less money.

The Tire Rack has the Kumho Ecsta SPT in 205/45-16 for $64/tire (plus shipping). (You can also get them from Discount Tire for $74/tire which includes free shipping, so it may be as good a deal or better.)

You get a $40 rebate on a purchase of four tires by sending in this rebate form.

Ecsta SPT has terrific bang-for-the-buck value.

Can anyone supply a picture of these tires mounted on the 16" wheels of their car? I'm really curious to see what they look like and if they offer any curb protection similar to the AVS Es100

If you want aggressive and are willing to go to the top of your price range, the Hankook Ventus R-S2 is the best tire for the money from a performance standpoint.

They run about $80 in your size.

I don't think they're such a great choice. If you want aggressive, then spend $95 and get the Falken Azenis RT-615, which gives better performance than the R-S2 Z212 and comes in 215/45-16. (Cars that use 205/45-16, like your '00 Civic, can just as easily use 215/45-16 as 205/45-16.) But if value is at all important to you (along with performance, of course), then you need to look at purchase price and treadlife, and you're better off getting the Kumho SPT, which is $54 each after rebate, than the more expensive and faster-wearing RT-615 or Z212. No, the SPT won't perform as well as the R-S2, but it's still pretty good... besides, if you're going to pay a lot more than the SPT for better performance, then you may as well spend a few bucks more for the performance of the Azenis.
