Default smog

my car will not pass due to high nox...got a healthy cat on there and newer nox sensor....new plugs and wires...my timing is at 18 degrees though id like it at 14-16......what else can i do? motor bad even though it sounds and runs like a champ?

also i think the valve seals or going bad...it smokes on warm ups sometimes...

any ideas?

thanx.

Retard your timing. Advanced timing caused increased Nox emissions. If you can get away with it, drop it low like 8 degrees. The tech might not pass you though. Timing has to be within factory specs.

Good luck

things to do....

new cat helps alot...
new spark plugs
new cap and rotor
fresh oil change
make sure you have a good cooling system, cool can cause the motor to run how thus having high knocks etc...

use something like seafoam before you do your oil change to break down carbon deposits... make sure timing is 16 +/-2 you should be cool do a pre-test first they should only cost you around 20 bucks... but it's 20 bucks well spent so you know whats going on.
