Testing Waters for 2003 One Lap Participation....
I think I'm going to attempt the One Lap of America deal next year.
Any interest? I need a second driver. I want to start planning the project now.

One lap?
How about Open track ckallenge?
Turbo ITR, sleeved block, 15 lbs boost ... to be finished this summer.
Might upgrade "safety" equipment to "race" specs. ED

I too am thinking of doing it next year. The local yokels SWAIN Technology was in it again this year, in the trusty ZR1 vette
Plus to get me all stoked the event actually started right here in downtown Rochester! I hope I can get track-licensed by next years event, hoping!
That cost is major for entry fees and probable budget of the trip itself, but I do want to do it. gotta do it once in my lifetime, no better time than next yearfor me either! getting a lot of track time this summer in my hybrid hatchy hatch... which should be even stronger next year after a winter of tuning/beefing up

did you guys ended up entering or no??
I believe the OTC starts in a few days from now...
I like to play to win, and didn't see that happening with just a hybrid, or just an ITR.
In any case, I wish Speedpak/Fais the best in getting together with his SWEET-
.

However, they're booked up for years!

It's week long "tour"/"Race" where you drive to various tracks, do time trials (lapping) and accumulate points.
Go look at the schedule on the webpage.

Almost did it this year
I'm think about next year as well, but not my bimmer.
When the lease on the 330i is up, I'll prolly end up buying the EVO... I would def do the One Lap in that.

Holy snooters batman.....that looks like fun. Hmm Clayton....wanna 2-driver the rex? Think of it though; thats probaly 3 sets of race tires, a set of brake pads if not more, complete fluid change, probaly a valve adjustment, man possibly a rebuild. All in a week of racing!
You have to use "Pirelli" tires and they have to be the same set for the whole thing. The rex might be fun or maybe the hatch....
Hahahha. One set of tires....I cant wait until the last race!!!! Ooops there goes another Rustang.....Ooops there goes another Curvette......Ooops there goes another Slomaro. (like my slang).
Clayton: I plan to do this next year as well in my R. Planning early will help for sure. Im still undecided as for who my co-driver will be, hopefully my friend Craig will do it. Im going to have my work sponsor me in the deal as long as it doesnt infringe on any other company that you have to put on your car.

a hybrid can place very well. but when they allow cars like Lotus 340R in T4... it's pretty unfair. 1300 lbs, 200 hp? i guess in theory you can prep a 1800 lbs civic hybrid with 250+ crank hp NA, or even 400+ hp a la the Top Fuel EK road race civic.
I'm not sure I follow you...
My sponsor will most likely be Tec-Air... same guys who sponsor my ITA CRX. They are an OEM auto supplier. I might try and find a sponsor for some product (i.e. brake pads, fluid, etc....) Of course I need to figure out which car I want to use. I'm not going out there to win.... just to have fun.

Im going tomorrow when they show up at Road Atlanta to take pics. Vipers, 911 TT, many souped up Vettes, an NSX, and a Diablo, S2k I know should be there tomorrow. No ITRs this year I dont think.
Ausmith, nice pic...
you guys might or might not like this.... at the OneLap start there was an EF all race prepped with a small trailor, it had 4 bottles of Nitrous on it, LOL. no joke.
I wonder how they will do?
Also a lot of Miatas (some turbo'd), C5 vettes, BMW 3series, Audi S4's and a handful of muscle cars that looked setup for the OneLap event pretty well / very professionally.
It sure will be interesting to see how the smaller/lighter cars do.. I would think they can do very well since tire life is great on a smaller car.... imagine a NA B20VTEC setup in a crx or 5th gen civic....

I still think a properly built EG would do well.... Not win.... Do well... I think I have one of those in the garage somewhere
185whp @ 1900lbs
Reliable
Looks good (to swoon podium girls)
Plenty of room for tools, parts, beer, and luggage

Yeah im doing it for fun and a nice country road trip.
What I mean about sponsors is...on the website they state you cant running any stickers on your car that are a conflicting sponsor to the event....So say Road and Track or is it Car and Driver put on the One Lap of Amer. event...well if you were sponsored by Motor Trend you cant run their sticker...see what im sayin?
