no need for a gun, just be smart about where you leave your car.
if you have any type of investment done into your car, you'd be an idiot not to keep it in a garage - or else you're asking for it.
some type of security will help a bit too.
sucks about your friends loss though

Man first it's one every other day, then one a day, now multiples a day and obviously even with higher security measures it somestimes doesn't help. I'd be willing to pay higher taxes if it ment more cops and longer duty hours for them
that sucks, it just pisses me off when i hear of some one's car getting jacked. there just making it worse for everybody cause now you can't even drive your legit hondas or acura's with out getting hounded by the cops. hope your boy gets his car back
i feel for your friend and anyone else who's had their civic stolen....
i mean there isn't much we civic owners can do to prevent a thief from stealing it -- bottom line is if they want it - they'll get it.
my suggestion to everyone is make sure you have an insurance policy with full coverage and a few theft deterrants such as...
pulling out the main fuse
pulling off steering wheel (hub required)
pedal locks on all 3 pedals
pulling out your entire ecu and taking it with you
push button starts help
alarms
wheel locks
and there is one other way to lock the steering wheel....
if you take off the steering wheel column cover near the brake pedal you'll see a whole in which the steering wheel rotates ---
buy a HARDENED steel padlock and lock that sucker nice.... then put the cover back on before you leave. this will only allow the theif to drive it straight -- they will not be able to turn the wheel and if you do this ... make sure you leave your steering wheel turned with the wheels facing the curb. it'll look like your making a sharp turn.
we can only take preventative measures.
i have a 100% stock 2000 Civic Si with 44k original miles in flawless condtion and suped up 2000 Civic hatchback -- both fully covered with insurance and deterrants.
i rarely take my si out for the fear that someone is going to steal it.

Is that so you can /youself when you walk outside and your car was stolen while you were asleep?
Park in a garage. Buy a GOOD alarm, not some cheap auto page key less entry crap. Get something with an immobilizer. They can't take your car if they can't start it unless they tow it which is unlikely.
Or just don't put a bunch of money into a car if you are in an area where that particular car has a good chance of getting stolen.

Like someone said if they want it, they will get it. There is no preventive measure for someone towing your car away

Cycletrak-S GPS locating system FTW. $500 up front, ~$50 activation fee when you have to use it. Jump on the net, activate, track, and tell the cops they can either arrest car theives now or wait for a murdur scene the next day.
This method won't alawys save all your parts, but you'll be able to at least sell a car shell for the price it costs. It also helps countering the most undefendable type of gank, the flatbed. You also get a chance to catch the theives as a nice bonus.

wow. the locating system sounds like a great idea, just dont have the cash for my vehicle. would love to check where it was, and find who ever stole my stuff. youre right though, thered be a crime scene.
I guess im lucky because in Central Wisconsin not many people jack cars...actually i havent heard of any car stealins withing a couple years. It really sucks that your homie got his car jacked...probably one of the worst things you could do
