Default Motorcycle

What a good sport bike to start off with that's fast enough to shut people up but mainly to look good doing it?

Please don't buy a bike, attitudes like yours result in accidents which drive up my insurance rates.

How about a classic like a FZR 400 that is if you can find one. I've been riding bikes for 14yrs. now and this is one of my favorite motorcycles.

I have a Blue on Black, 1985 CB700SC Nighthawk S, and even though it's not a crotch rocket, it'll do 130mph+ in stock trim, and it's stable as a rock doing it.
I've only actually had the bike up that fast once, but I drive 200 miles a week on the bike, and cruise at 80 to 90mph most of the time without even putting a strain on it, and occassionally take it past 100mph when there's no traffic to contend with at 2am, when I'm on my way home from work.
It probably isn't the fastest ride out there, but it looks tough even when it's not moving. so if you're looking for a fast reliable bike, that's capable of running with some of the big boys, you might consider one like mine.
