Roll bar/cage requirement question (8.50 - 9.99)
Im not to clear on what the NHRA rule book is asking for in this situation. Its a full unibody car, complete OE floor/frame. I want the car to be legal in the 9's. From the looks of the image in the rulebook, it can either be a 8pt roll bar or a 10pt cage, depending on how you look at it.
Can anyone shed some light on this for me? What is required for 9.99 or quicker?

you should really do a search on this.....
But from what i know and hear it needs to be a 10pt and a chute if your going faster than 150mph i believe. Also where the bars are welded to the floor there has to be a certain size plate then the bar!

plates have to be 6" x 6" ans .125" thick, welded or bolted to the floor pan, if bolted, you must also have a 6x6 plate underneath to bolt it to. there are a ton of specifications on tubing diameter and thickness, based on which bar it is, if you use mild steel or chromoly, you need to get ahold of an nhra rule book, or what ever sanction you plan on running under
I have the rulebook in PDF format. It specifies the diameters and thicknesses, that was pretty clear. The only thing I couldnt determine or make sense of was the illustration they have for the cage listed for a 8.50-9.99 car. Im looking at it closely now, it apears to be a 10pt. I just wanted confirmation on that.
