clearence with a hasport mount kit a b16 and a 4-1 header
I have a b16 in my hatch and I am looking for a header. I am pretty set on getting a ITR 4-1 but I was told it won't fit and that the crossmember will need to be notched out. Has anyone done this before and also what header does everyone use with there swaps and have you had any clearence issues
From what I have seen and heard most kits will require the crossmember to be modified when using a 4-1 header. Some people just decide to go with a 4-2-1 design and have no clearance issues. Also you are going to have some issues with ground clearance if using a 4-1 header on a b16 since the b18 that the header came off of has a higher deck height.
Yes, you'll have to sit there with a hammer and bang the **** out of the crossmember. I bashed it in about 1-2" and it still rubbed. I finally just got a rotary grinder and grinded another 1" off and it fit alright. My car was lowered about 1.5-2" and the header was about 3" off the ground. This was with the JDM DC 4-1. After about 2 months the header was so smashed up, the stock header performed better.
i'm runnin' a dc 4-1 header made for the 99-00 civic Si and del sol vtec's. i had to slightly bend the crossmember. i believe that i dented in the cross member about an inch w/ a RUBBER mallet.
i haven't had any issues w/ the header hitting the crossmember. i'm running hasport mounts and they don't let the engine flex very much, so it hasn't been a problem for me. as far as ground clearance, i've got my hatch dropped on H&R sport springs ~1.9" front and 1.8" rear and don't have any dings in it at all. not sure about the b18 headers, they are taller, so you would most likely have to grind out some of the crossmember like the others said, and you would probably also run into ground clearance problems if you lowered your car. hope this helped.

this is a good excuse to buy the Z10, I have the place kit in a 90 CRX LSVTEC with the GSR DC 4 into 1 header, no clearence issues whatsoever with the Z10 up front, got plenty of room left over as well, the header would be more likely to hit the radiator than the Z10, plus the Z10 is just bad *** period.
at $549, it's also a very pricey but worth it. if dont have the extra money for it, check this site out http://www.diyracing.com/Misc.htm

Not a lot of clearence when you lower the car and have the 1.8L ITR/DC headers, unless you like banging into everthing. $549 for what? You paid that for a DC JDM Header you got ripped off.
$549 msrp for the z10 radius arms/cross member. whats worse is the place racing cross member. youre paying $200 for what? so that it clears some headers and you have the option to run the smaller 92-95 civic radiator. um no thanks
I got the DC 4-1 for 99-00 si and didnt bang the crossmember at all. maybe it's because we didnt really bang out the rear crossmember?
I'm using the new billet Hasport mounts and from what they say is about 1/2 inch taller. (no problems w/hood clearance too w/b18b) I had to first cut the crossmembers about 1/3 through, 6 inches apart, then hammer it down to fit the JDM 4-1 header. Had a 2 1/2 flange welded on my Cat and a 2 1/4 HKS sport exhaust all the way through. Quiet on the idle, but deep throaty roar when punched. The AEM CAI helped too in the chorus. Yeah baby!
