1994 Accord LX Tranny Messed up?
My friends 5 speed 94' Accord LX F22B2 accord's tranny 2nd gear has a bad synchro (only goes to 2nd if tranny is cold). So I had the idea of getting a heavier weight oil (80w-140 I think) or something EXTREMELY similar.
Anyway I found a drain plug and a fill plug on the side of the tranny right behind the passengers side front wheel. We took the plug out and no fluid came out, so we lifted the car up from the drivers side so it flows out and some did (not alot?) and we filled it up after it finished draining.
Today he calls me and says I fucked up his clutch and his car wont move an INCH anymore, and he was so pissed he hung up on me.
What happened?

10w30 is the called for trans oil. I'd suspect there are other problems with his trans, considering there was no fluid in the trans when the drain plug was pulled. The clutch has nothing to do with the trans fluid. The clutch itself might be shot.
might be better to swap in another trans from a j/y.....if that thing has been run dry because of lack of oil then, those gears are going to be messed up for sure
Over filling a MT can sometimes keep you from getting it into gear, but your friend is a fuckwad and should appreciate your help.
Btw, recommended fluids are Honda MTF, or a 10w30/40 motor oil. Not gear lube.

lets say we overfilled the tranny with 2 diffrent kinds of gear oils, one being engine oil and one being actual gear oil.
Since then weve been driving the car and we have to apply low throttle position in order for the car to move and the CLUTCH not to slip.
My friend thinks that the tranny fluid somehow messed up the clutch.
But im trying to prove him otherwise.
BTW: at the same time we DID adjust the clutch pedal assembly from inside the car.
Before, the pressure plate applied pressure RIGHT when you let off the clutch A TINY bit, but now I adjusted so that the clutch pedal can be taken out at least 2 inches BEFORE it starts engaging.
Is it the linkage or the gear oils fault at this?
thanks
