Default Question for hybriders...

I am dropping a 95 B18C1 into my 94 Civic CX. I know i will have to add the vtec solenoid, vtec pressure switch, and KS. can i just use the GS-R harness because it is still in there and intact? so if i can then that means that i have to add the wires from the plugs at the strut bar. does anyone have the wiring pin diagram for the plugs? how did you other 92-95 hybrider do it?

BTW i will be using a skunk2 manifold if it matters...

When you say "just use the GSR harness".... please clarify what you mean... are you talking about the engine harness (from the engine to the shock tower), or the harness from the shock tower to the ECU???

The wiring diagram is in the Helms manual. You shouldn't be attempting a swap without one.

sorry about that... the engine harness from the engine to the shock tower is what i am using. i want to know how i can cleanly add the wires from the ecu to the shock tower. i want it to look as OEM as possible.

The absolute cleanest way would be to find some extra wires (including end-pins) that you can just add right into your harness.

What I did:

I had an extra engine harness laying around. I cut some of the connectors off to get the pins for the engine-bay side of the wiring. I took some wire, and soldered the ends on to them, then put heat-shrink tubing over the wires.

Since I had previously removed all the tape and tubing coverering the engine bay wiring, I bought new convoluted tubing (you know the black plastic stuff). I wrapped all the wires (new and old) together in the tubing and sealed it back up with tape. I put everything back the way it came. I ran the new wires through the rubber grommet and into the cabin, leaving plenty of extra length.

I bought an extra ECU plug set from a junkyard. It included the plugs and about a foot of wire. I carefully pulled the wires from the connectors so as not to damage the pins. I then soldered the correct wire/end onto the new wires I ran into the cabin. There are two sizes of pins for the ECU, a small and large one. Make sure you put the right one on. Anyway, I soldered the ends on and applied heat shring tubing again. Plugged the pin in to the ECU connector and the ECU connector into ECU. I've got about 55 miles on the car and no CEL's yet.... and don't expect any.

If you were to look closely enough, you'd see that the wires I added are 3 colors, one at each end, and one in the middle. Ideally, you would have one solid wire (no soldering) running the whole length... and even better, it would be the right color. Mine works, it will not come loose, and it doesn't look ghetto... well, my ecu is still laying in my floorboard, so I guess it does.

Just make sure you either use one continuous wire, or solder the connections. Any kind of crimp/twist type connector cannot be trusted, and it could give you an unreliable signal as well.

hope this helps.

Ok..since you're running a Skunk2 manifold you don't need to wire up the IAB's or basically anything related to the secondary butterflies. You just need to wire up the vtec components.

Here's my wiring info on an OBD1 equipped car:
