Default forming lexan

so i should have done this years ago but i got super lazy and never finished it. well i went and bought a 2X5 sheet of lexan to finish the rear window on my race car. im trying to heat it up and form it over the old window. im thinking i might not be getting enough heat distributed to form the window. the lexan really moves alot when you heat it up but i cant get the corners to fold down. anyone got any ideas?

Have a kiln? Back in college we formed lexan windows simply by laying the plastic over a mold and heating up in an oven until it oozed into place.

i used a heat gun that i got from MAC tools, its pretty strong, much stronger than my old craftsman, we used the same lexan and a bunch of wood working clamps on a large bench, me and a buddy went at it with the heat guns, and working the clamps tighter as we did it, after about and hour we had his formed very well, we trimmed it and put it back together.

its just kinda time consuming, i got to where i actually bent some almost 90 degrees to make a gauge holder in a friends civic too

I didnt have to do any forming when I did my back window in my hatch, it just kinda followed the cotour on its own.

i have one spot that kinda looks like a pimple. its perfectly clear though but it seems that i got it too hot. i might need to trim the lexan down a little bit so its easier to work with and clamp it around the window as i go. i also think i might need a second heat gun to work more surface over. i dont know, thought id post up the question, no harm in asking.

How thick is the lexan? street car or track queen

1/8th" got it cut today but still have no luck forming it. i dont think i have even enough heat distribution. i traced the old window as best i could and then cut an extra 1/2" oversized.

why not take the lexan and place it over the window then hit it with some heat and let it melt/form to the shape and contour of the window.

what about a salamandor... big propane heaters for a garage? that would get it warm enough to form.

right now i still have the protective film on the one side of the lexan so i dont scratch it while im working the opposite side over with the heat gun. looks like i wont have much of a choice but to peel it off and work it over carefully.
