Default b18c6 into 94 vti

hiya every1 and thanks for reading my topic if you know the answer to my question pls reply if you dont then dont guess and leave it to the techys thanks in advance matt

right i have an 94 eg hatch vti ive just taken the engine out and im currently waiting for my b18c6 (as im in uk) engine to turn up ive read that if both engines are from the same country ie both RHD in my case i can use the ITR engine harness and my chassis harness ( see i have actually done some searching before posting my q) i am planning to go hondata or get my ecu remapped to account for the increased fuel demand but before i do this i want to get the engine running in my car first just to basically chech everything is ok so will my stock b16a2 ecu start and run the integra engine without misfiring or detonating or sounding horible? and will it get me to a tunng specialist so they can set up hondata obviously keeping the revs down? thanks matt

B16 tranny will bolt up. But it'd be worth your while to use the ITR tranny for the factory LSD.

Yes keep the ITR engine harness. If it's RHD as your car is then this will be 100% plug and play, and this will also allow you to keep the newer style ITR distributor and injectors, as well as alternator. If you keep your VTi engine harness then you'll be rewiring all of these things, which sucks.

I run my B18C5 (US ITR engine swap) on a remapped P28 SOHC VTEC ECU and it rips!

What ECU is it exactly? Our B16A2 came with an unusable OBD2 ECU that isn't reprogrammable. look on the side of the ECU and tell me what it is.

hia and thank you very much for your help and for confirming its plug and play i have come across large photos of your swap and have to say im very impressed and am failing miserably to duplicate it.

Right just whipped my ecu out and it says 37820-P30-G01
and im sure its obd1 as the plugs for it are obd1 are the US VTI/ESI 92-95 EG'S OBD2? i just want to no if this ecu will start and run the engine untill i sort out a chip/hondata for it

also can you please tell me what your rad is out of and are the rad connections in the same place as your stock rad was thanks matt

Okay the P30 is meant to run a DOHC VTEC B16A engine, so yes it will run the B18C6 pretty well until you secure a Hondata ECU. I'm sure Hondata could be installed on your P30, or if you have anyone in your area that can tune with Uberdata then i'd go that route because it's cheaper and has the same features.

You'll definately want to have the Hondata/Uberdata tuned on a rolling road though.

If you want a nice rechipped ECU that you won't have to have tuned check with Kenji - his e-mail is kenji211@tampabay.rr.com - I ran my swap on his ECU for 4 years with zero issues. I got a stupid cheap deal on Uberdata tuning on a rolling road (we call them dynos) so I went with that just because Uberdata has a check engine shift light and drag launch feature not found on rechipped ECUs. Kenji's ECU made almost identical power/torque as my tuned Uberdata unit.

My radiator is an Acura Integra 94-01 replacement that I purchased from http://www.radiatorbarn.com.

The mounting locations are not the same on the lower core support nor at the top tank brackets, and you 'll need to slightly modify the mounts to get it to fit perfectly.

I drilled out the welds on my lower mounts, set the radiator in place to mark where the mounts needed to be reloacted to, then welded them back in place. You could also use self-tapping bolts too, but spot welds are better. For the upper bracket I fashioned a mount out of a piece of strap aluminum and added a piece of thick heat shrink tuning so that the upper tank would not get rubbed through.

B series are the same, so you're good there.

BTW:

Unless you plan on getting rid of your A/C you don't want to get the Integra radiator. Your stock radiator should be dual core (double thick) because it had a stock B16A, so it should be plenty good for the B18C6.

nah sorry about that i didnt have a vti to start with. i had a d16z6 swapped that for a b16a2, when i did the swap i bought a shitty rad of ebay and its got like rubber adaptors that go over the connection as my hoses are to big for it and i dont have ac + your rad looks trick so ill post some picks when im done

What power were you running with the chipped ecu? Do u reckon a B18C6 full motor Harness Manifolds with 48000 miles on it is worth £1700

B series hoses are bigger than D series radiators, so you'd actually need to use screw-type hose clamps on the hoses where they meet your Civic radiator. If you run the Integra radiator then they'll fit much better.

175whp with 122ft-lbs. of torque - but I later found out my fuel pressure regulator (it came on the engine) was leaning the fuel out so after getting the right fuel to it it was 175/128 instead and the midrange was much fatter. The only mods were i/h/e, cam gears set at +2 intake, -1 exhaust and the rechipped ECU.

For comparison figures my wife's B16A2 only made 143whp/102ft-lbs. of torque, so the Type R engine made a good 30 more whp and almost 30 more ft-lbs. of torque to the wheels!

What's that translate into in terms of American money? Is that just the engine w/o tranny and axles?

Oh ****:

***DISCLAIMER***

You'll also need the Integra main cooling fan and shroud assembly, because the Civic one won't fit the Integra radiator. You should be able to grab the whole assembly from a salvage yard for under $75.00 or so.
