Ok.. so the points standings are really tight and most are wondering if it's gonna be Valentino Rossi or Nicky Hayden. There is no chance that anyone else can take the crown because VR is ahead of the 3rd points leader, Marco Melandri, by 27pts. Even if Vale crashed out and Marco came in 1st, Marco wouldn't win the championship. But Nicky would. As a matter of fact, Nicky and Vale are so close that there's several ways that they can even tie. I don't know how MotoGP would handle that but there's definitely at least 6 ways they can tie.

If Nicky comes in..
3rd and VR in 8th = tie
4th and VR in 11th = tie
5th and VR in 13th = tie
6th and VR in 14th = tie
7th and VR in 15th = tie
8th and VR in 16th = tie

but if Nicky finishes 9th or worse.. VR wins championship whether he finishes the race or not.

If Nicky comes in 2nd and VR finishes 5th or worse.. Hayden wins.
If Nicky comes in 1st and VR finishes 3rd or worse.. Hayden wins.

Ofcourse if VR finishes 2nd.. VR wins.
And if VR finishes anywhere else with Nicky behind him, VR wins.

A lot of pressure on Nicky. Six million ways to die.. choose one.

With respect to a tie, the winner is determined by the number of first place finishes...? Is that right?
