Which Year is Better? 02? or 06?
Im interested in finding out which year is better then the other.. From what I have heard the newer models have been recalled and the older models are better. I currently own a 3G Eclipse with SDS. And interested in Getting a DC5 and Converting it to ITR. Can anyone give me specs on which year is better to go with? performace and look wise? please any info would be appreciated. Thanks

i like the look of the 02-04 a lot more than the 05-06. the 05-06 looks more luxury and the 02-04 looks more like a track car. are you going to be doing a whole conversion including the engine? if so i would just buy a type s and swap the k20a in. or you could front the money for a base but im not sure how much you could get for the engine. the 05-06 has about 10 more horsepower but if your converting it to a ITR no reason to pay more when your just going to be swapping it anyways.

yea true, But I was planning on leaving the Type S Engine in it. Swapping it for a DC5R is pointless i think. I was planning on ITRing the Exterior, and interior and rims. But Whats the difference between K20A2 and a K20A?
The K20Z1 drives a lot better, IMHO, than the K20A2. Most of the felt difference is in the computer programming.
The K20Z1 is faster in most real life driving situations because Honda learned so much about programming that the motor simply has torque in areas where you just didn't have it before.
I've driven both cars. If you have the money for it, I would definitely go for the newer car.

That's what makes the Hondata on the 02-04 such a great upgrade, even just the flash. Hondata flash on the 02-04 makes it run just as good or better than the 05-06.
But a full ITR conversion? If you are going that far, just buy the cheapest car because you're going to be replacing a lot of stuff anyways. I don't get the point of an ITR conversion, but to each their own.

The 06 RSX Type-S is the closest you can get to the JDM ITR. As far as parts go, the exterior needs the itr sideskirts and the itr wing. There was some parts taken out from the the 06 Type-S that would make it an ITR counter part. There was actually a discussion concerning this matter. You might want to search on this.

~Well in some cases its almost the same, again minus some parts.

How is this a full ITR conversion? Honestly, it doesn't really matter what year car you get if this is all you are going to do.
And no, there is not a twin USDM car that comes close to matching the JDM DC5R. If you're all about appearance, which it sounds lke you are, then again--what does it matter?

not to tear you away from the DC's but i read in Turbo Magzine that most Evo parts are interchangeable with the 3g eclipses. there was a Evo 8 engine in the 3 g eclipse with very little fabrication and the brembo brakes bolted right on. just a thought
buy an evo8. is i had the 40k i would so ditch my ep3 and i would never even think of a honda again. jk i love my honda but evos are ******* fast and handle even better.

If you think the earlier year + hondata is good, think about what the 05 or 06 would get you with kpro + cai and all that other stuff. I personally think the 06 looks better not b/c i own it but b/c i like the design and the headlights/taillights combo looks good. You get a stronger engine and better ride quality....u pick ur options....
Good luck with w/e u choose...both r great choices...just depends what you want to do with it....

just get an rsx and forget the type r motor you will pay 6 grand for ten more hp i would just get an rsx make it look nice with type r lips and type r interior and get some engine work done all motor or forced induction either way you will still be faster that way then just putting a type r motor in your car think about whats the best way to spend an a$$ load of money
Evo 8's pretty much come fast.. But I would rather take pride in my work to make it fast.. Not just buy an EVO and just bolt on **** and add like 50 Horses.. Not me.. Thats cheating.. Like like a highschool kid going out and buying a SRT-4 and telling everyone his cars fast as ****.. I hate that.. Take pride in your work. Not saying that adding stuff to your car isnt adding work.. But im just saying adding a complete turbo to a car that did not manufacter with turbo is more bragging rights and you get more respect! But thats my opinion.. I am not down grading anyone or anyones cars. But there is not alot you can do with an EVO.. Alot of people on my Team Have EVO's so I pretty much know how it is.

i understand what you mean. i feel the same way to some extent. however i disagree on one thing: there is ALOT you can do with an EVO. its just a higher starting point, that's all.
