I recently put together a meet/drive to Asheville, NC/Deal's Gap.

I wanted to post this here because I think everyone should try to put this as a "have to do thing."

Nice!! I'm planning a trip up there with a few friends for Spring Break of next year...

 

I cant wait till I make my trip up there.
Some of our family friends own a cabin in fontana that we stay at every so often.

 

And nobody got harrased by the cops? Nice trip!

We drove up yesterday from Clemson and there were A LOT of cops. Had to be careful. They all had their radar on, so the 8500 would go off a couple turns before we came near them. They all left late afternoon and we got a good run in That is an amazing piece of asphalt!

Barely. After my race engine blew up, I gave up on Honda Challenge & sold a lot of my stuff. I ended up getting out of cars altogether.

I then got into FFXI which sucked the life out of me. I quit that after 3 years & fell back into the car thing.

Now... here I am... already built me a beater car & ready to track next season... for fun, of course. No more HC dreams as I don't have that kind of money anymore.

Back to the subject:

Deal's Gap, we had a lot of fun. We didn't see one cop @ all our entire day. I plan on doing an event 2 times a year since it is very close. One in spring & one in fall.

Hope to catch up w/ some of the peeps that posted on this thread... it's been a long time. I have been trying to catch back up w/ what has happened & trying to go to as many events as possible. Let me know if you all do anything & drop me an invite.

went there this past weekend.. although it was wet and dark..

man what a blast... it was about 6 of us (6 cars).. and no one else on the road. it was a blast.

then we had to drive home which sucked horribly. got home at 3:30.

i cant wait to go again, this time in spending the night

 

is there anything similar to this on the west coast atall? always wanted to do the drive but not so stoked on driving across the continent first

 

Actually that Saturday we did see a cop. A White Camaro flipped his car around on Rte 28 where all 4 lanes turn into a two lane road. The cop followed us for about 4 miles and then passed me to follow a couple of others that where ahead of me. Then I saw the cop cut his car sideways towards the campground which he seemed to be pissed off that he didn't have anything against us or write us up on.


I think Colorado , Washington and California has a lot of crazy roads out west.

 

Also I suggest we do the Cherohala Skyway next time with the Dragon. It's a bit of a long drive but you can see for MILES and its beautiful.

 

^aaaah, we did the skyway.... i mean, it was nice and all, but you go up to near 6000 feet in elevation, your car runs like ****, and well, once you get to the bottom you gotta go back the same way.

also, we had soooooooo much fog from the clouds which didnt help, oh and it being wet didnt help.

next time i go, i am def. only sticking to the dragon.

Not be a typical hater but...

I was kinda thinking the same thing. I post a few vids of canyon carving in Okinawa here...and it gets deleted for 'street racing'. Somoene posts a full write-up of deals gap and everyone loves it. Doesnt make sense.
