Default DIY fiberglass front end for 88-89 CRX, questions?

Hi guys, I was looking to buy a fibre images CF hood for my conversion however it got me thinking as im in the UK and shipping for such an item is expensive why not use the money to make a fibreglass mould for a front end. Can anyone give me some pointers on how to go about doing this?

It just so happens I have a spare front bumper, 2 front wings and a hood for a 88-89 CRX. I was thinking of bolting the parts together from the inside or riveting prehaps. Sealing up the seams with some no nails sealant or simalar. Then coat the whole thing in cling film & wax (?) and starting to lay the fibre glass on top, apply resin, sand inbetween every 2 layers of fibreglass until a nice smooth strong layer of FG is left.

If you have any experience with fibreglass please tell me if I have the above procedure correct? (I know its vague)

Also...

How many layers of fibreglass do you think I'll need?

I shall be doing this in my back garden and at the moment its pretty much raining in england (come to think of it its always raining here). Is it advisable to find somewhere inside so the FG can cure properly?

What can I do about keeping the strength of the mould for removing it when I finish? I was thinking of placing alu bracing strips within the fibreglass?

My other idea was to put the hood, wings & bumper together and see if there is anyone who can vacuum form a few of them. Can you get vacuum forming machines that big?

Any help with the above would be most appreciated

You will need atleast 7 layers of fiberglass weave, I would put 9 layers to extra stiffness. As for the mold, you might want to buy a really trashed crx/civic hb for the mold, as I would'nt try it on your rex if you have nice paint. There are plenty of ways to mold fiberglass, just search google and you'll find plenty of hits. Just chose the method that best suits you.
