Hey Honda-Techers! Wanna race NHRA Lucas Oils Drag Racing Series? They MAY have a class for you!!
I caught this off a Competition Eliminator website:
"Proposed" Added classes for 2007:
• Classes – added AA/AF, BB/AF, front-wheel drive applications that are carry-over from Sport Compact combinations.
• Fuel – Methanol permitted in AA/AF and BB/AF.
Whatta you think? Wanna line up next to Comp Eliminator legends like Vinnie Barone and (NHRA Sport Compact Commentator) Bruno Massel? They are also proposing coming out with 2 turbo dragster classes (Don Nase, Jr??) They are allowed 4 and 6 cylinder turbo engines.
I myself will be racing DD/AT next season alongside Bruno and company. If you go to enough races in your division and do well (grade points) you can compete at the Powerade races in front of the BIG crowds! Is this something that some front wheel drive teams would consider?? I'd like some input on this!

what equivalent cars would qualify for this class? Pro-FWD and Hot Rod? What times are the they running?
Right now, there's no rules or designations for any of these classes. These are "proposed" changes to Competition Eliminator this upcoming season. They (V-8 heads) have been saying on other websites that, instead of allowing us our own series (NHRA Sport Compact), they should just put us all into Comp Eliminator. They base this on the fact that at some venues we have low racer/spectator turnout, as well as a lot of bye runs. I don't know if they are making these classes for Sport FWD, Hot Rod, or Pro FWD legal cars. The dragster classes (H/D and I/D) are designed for cars that are set up like Don Nase, Jr's and the former AEM dragster (remember Englishtown a few weeks ago?).

i would run every event if the classes were equal/ i.e hot rod hr/af, sport fwd sf/af
it would have to be even enough for you to either run close or hit the index. frank aragona is .650 under the index it would be hard to qualify with most of the guys running .3-.5 under there index's this would be a great thing for nhra to do.

haha, i said the exact same thing about a month ago on here. They need to just throw the sport compact series in the sportsman ranks. A car is a car, there is no reason for the seperation.
Only bad part is now all the sport compact guys are going to have to learn how to cut a light

The index is definitely something that comes into question with these classes. If the index for a Pro FWD type car were, let's say....8.40, then most of the Pro FWD class would qualify 1-5 on most comp eliminator ladders. They shouldn't give an index for these classes that they can't hit. It's not a matter of HITTING the index. It's a matter of how much UNDER the index you can go, and if you go too far under (.500+), then they're going to continually lower your index (competition index control, or CIC) to the point where it WILL be tough to qualify.

yes however where would the starting point be. if profwd's index is 8.40 and they go 7.56 then there is going to be a uproar at that event from the regular comp quailfiers
rob moore ran comp... if the index was 8.50 and you go 7.56 nhra would look to lower the index .... and that would suck for the guy that only runs 8.30s or slower

Yes, there's going to be an uproar of epic proportions...........BUT......IF a front wheel drive car goes 7.56 (which is .840 under), you can REST ASSURED that this particular racer will:
A) Draw the ire of anyone else who is currently or planning to run the class.
B) Get absolutely KILLED with CIC penalties. And
C) Kill his/her chances of qualifying for, or qualifying well at, most events.
The smart way to race if the index were very soft like that, is to keep mirrors on your car, and invest in some racing radios. If your crew (or mirrors) tells you that you're really far ahead of your opponent, ease off that throttle and save some index! So, if possible, cut a good light, get a lead, and coast across that line if possible! Trust me! It'll benefit you in the long term! Hell, I've seen some drivers INTENTIONALLY LOSE RACES because they needed to save some index for some much bigger events that they were at, so they'd back off, lose "on purpose" and come out fighting strong at the next big event.

Wrong!! Unless you're talking about .100 under (or one tenth) under the index, you are very far wrong.
Here are some examples of some of the #1 qualifiers in Comp this year.
-.699 Frank Aragona. Baytown, Texas
-.711 Glen Treadwell. Joliet, Illinois
-.821 (The most under the index this season) Allyn Armstrong. Englishtown, New Jersey
-.727 Bruno Massel. St. Louis, Missouri ECOTEC POWER, BABY!!
-.789 Jirka Kaplan. Sonoma, California
-.757 Arnie Martel. Maple Grove, Pennsylvania.

As a sport compact racer that also races in the Lucas Oil and the Powerade series, I gotta say, It's great to compete at a huge event with packed stands, and all the big names. Plus, it's great for anybody with a sponsor, or trying to get a sponsor, to have that kind of exposure.

I guess this is really one of the points I'm trying to make.......however, it doesn't really seem well received. I WILL be out next year in Comp Eliminator, and I will be running DD/AT.

They have classes for all motor front wheel drives in Stock and Super Stock. These classes they're adding are turbo, methanol allowed classes.

Whatta you think? Wanna line up next to Comp Eliminator legends like Vinnie Barone and (NHRA Sport Compact Commentator) Bruno Massel? </TD></TR></TABLE>
so, AA/AF would go against DD/AT Comp Eliminator cars??
isnt Bruno the leader of DD/AT with a 7.6 in the 180's?
FWD cars are ET'ing and trapping better than that
im confused

Dont confuse Comp with Stock and Superstock.
Comp is ***** out, with a power to weight deal. Really really fast cars.
Stock and Superstock has cars with factory sheetmetal and factory glass.
They even have to be weighted and have to have the factory weight.
Superstock can have modifications to motor, etc, but stock is stock. Right down to the factory pistons.
If you have a full out racecar, you probably want to look at Competition eliminator.

Toyotaturbo, Hey, you sound like a pretty smart racer. I agree with what you say and I say why not do it all? Race sportcompact events and NHRA events. If you are looking for exposure, as well as seat time, this would be a great idea!
Besides, bring more sportcompact stuff and expose it to the domestic side of racing.

This is why people sometimes call this class "complicated eliminator". You're misunderstanding this whole thing. This is an INDEX class. This is not heads up. It doesn't matter what Bruno or anyone else runs. This class is where reaction time is SUPER IMPORTANT. There are currently 92 classes in Comp, and the indexes range from 6.85 to 9.79. And they COULD race each other. When you line up on the starting line, your class indexes are put up on the board. First to the finish line wins, no break out. However, if both you and your opponent go -.500 under, then you'll be hit with CIC penalties, or in other words, your index will be lowered, thus making it harder for you and anyone else who runs your class to qualify well. Hope this helps a little bit.....
