does it turn on when your parking brake is on? if not its probably the sensor or wire for the pedal.

First off, I'm assuming you are refering to your brake lights on the back of the car and not the one in the dash. The brake pedal only lights the bulbs on the back of the car, the e-brake ONLY lights the warning light in the dash.
If all 5 brake light bulbs aren't lighting up, it's most likely either the fuse or the switch. First, go for the easy fix, check your fuses. You have 2 fuse boxes, one under the dash, and one under the hood on the right strut tower. I forget which one has the brake light fuse, but it should be labled.
If your fuses are good, look at the brake pedal itself. If you follow the pedal up you should see a switch up twards the pivot point. When you press on the pedal, you should see the switch operate (you can usually also hear it click.) check the wires going to the switch and make sure they're conected properly.
If all of this checks out good, then you either have 5 burned out bulbs, or some wiring problems. Unless you have the right test equipment and knowlege of wiring systems, I'd sugest taking wiring probs to a professional.

the e-brake ONLY lights the warning light in the dash.
The switch on the master cylinder cap also turns on the brake warning light. That way you know when your brake fluid is getting low.
