Default FactorX hood fitment quality

I ordered 2 hoods. here is the first one:

I didnt even bother unpacking it as you can see.
The second one was intact, and overall the weave was good and blemishes
were minimal. HOWEVER, the fitment was rather poor. I couldnt get good
pictures of it since it was night time when I got around to it, but to give you
a description:

1. The hood was a bit small. About 1/2" short on the backside and about 1/4"
short on the front side.
2. The hinge bolt holes werent in the proper place which meant that the holes in
the hinges would have to be grinded in order for the hood to sit straight, but of
course that leads us back to #1 above.

Overall I would say that for all the hype that this hood has brought on, I was very
disappointed. The fiber images hoods are leaps and bounds above these in terms
of fitment and quality.

Im not going to send them back if its at my expense, but the fitment is just
not good enough in my opinion. if i were to align the back of the hood properly
then about 0.75-1" of the top of the headlight would be exposed.

It shouldnt be at my expense anyway. Dealing with fiber images, they usually
just ship another if it was damaged in transport.

Man that sucks, sorry to see/hear about the 2 hood's you ordered. They should've packaged those hoods better. A couple of my friends have looked at the Factor X hoods and have noticed the same thing that you have, the 1" gap. Hopefully you can get your money back on both and get a VIS or a Fiber Images. Good luck.

That's horrible. Mine fits 95% with the weather stripping. I can see that yours are pretty horrible

Looks like chit...sorry man.

I believe this was posted previously...same situation and Factor X took care of the shipping expenses for a new hood. As they should!

they make the JDM hondaparts brand hoods. High gloss, rolled edges, nice fitment, nice weave, reinforced latch.

Im going to try to get pics of the other hood on the car, but it might be awhile.
I'd say that it fits 70-80%

I wonder how the corner was damaged so badly... this is based off pictures i've seen of people who've crashed their cars with cf hoods.

sorry to see that stuff sgt.. last c/f hood i owned was jdmhondaparts.com... which i eventually found out later was a VIS hood... damn good quality if you ask me, just some chips from daily driving and a few blemishes in the weave but nothing like what i've seen from the FX hoods.

Yeah, corner so badly damaged on one but not the other which was packaged
together.

you know, had I seen the jhp hoods before hand, i would probably have gone with
those instead seeing as how they are cheaper in price as well.

Hopefully i'll be able to work this situation out and get SOMETHING of good quality.

Pathetic. where is the quality control at these places? you think they would test fit each hood and check for defects on EVERY single hood. Never know when the crappy hood your shipping could go to the person who is gonna publically ( on a forum such as this) make your product look pathetic and ruin your business. If i owned a company, nothing would leave the warehouse until it worked and looked 101% better than what the customer expects.

I couldnt believe there were people knocking fiber images hoods.
Their first run of hoods were pretty crappy, and granted these arent as bad as
the FI hoods were in the beginning, their current ones are much nicer.

Yuck! Sorry to hear that. I know with shipping EACH hood is about $600 or so which is a lot for a NICE hood that actually fits, but to pay that much for a defective hood, ouch! Good luck on the refund and search for a quality hood. It's just unfortunate that Factor X isn't all that it was supposed to be.

My Factor X hood was perfect, other then the dimpals from clear coat that was only visable in certain light at certain angle, I couldn't find any problems with it. But the shiping sucked. The corners toward the windshield were broken. I had insurance on it so they sent me another one that should be here Friday. Now I'm worried the hood with decent shiping won't be as high of quality.
Factor X service:
Shipping: Fine other than broken corners toward windshield.
Price: Paid $650 shiped!
Quality:
Fit: Slightly raised at the hinges, but nowhere near as bad a Fiber Images.

Hmm...seems like the people that have shipping involved really have the bad ones.
