Default Any idea what would cause this to happen???

k well i was driving, and my alternator started going to ****.. making noise, etc.. so i pulled over, yanked the belt, and had like another mile to go, no big deal..

then as im driving all of a sudden it feels like there is a heavy load on the motor for some reason.. i made it home, then parked the car and oil was all over, etc and this is what it looked like.. hard to see kinda but the timing belt slid over and rubber on the valve cover, grinding the **** out of the timing belt.. i havent had time to tear into it yet..

i was thinking possible water/oil pump failure???

Um maybe if you leave the cover on there it may not happen.
Thats why its there.Or could a hundred japanese engineers be wrong.
Pulley is out of line most likely.

i dont see how that cover not being there would do that to the timing belt.... im thinking the crank pully bolt came loose, and the pully moved over. the guide also moved and let the timing belt move over... now the question....... is the crank pully bolt loose???

I find road debris in open covers like this all of the time. If the crank pulley is tight, then you have debris inside the cover.
