Default 2006 Ducati ss800

I was looking at one here locally , brand new . I cant find **** for after market parts, and i cant find any reviews on them.

I am leaving this pretty open ended, any one have one? if so what do you think of it ? how does it compare to other sport bikes out on the market?

my reasoning for asking so many questions is i basically can find NO info on these.

thanks for the help

I almost bought one a few months back until the seller sold it out from under me.

When I was looking at getting one I was able to find a fair amount of aftermarket places, you just gotta look around, try searching on Yahoo, that's what I did.

Other than the fact that they're pretty ugly?

Yes, the pic just emphasizes the ugliness of that bike.

What's ugly about it?

Form follows function. It's not a Superbike. It's designed to be more comfortable and ergonomic than the 748/9 and the 998/9. It's still pretty extreme in terms of riding position, though.

Is it ugly because it doesn't have some kind of super-stunna HID angel eye kit?

The fairing with an identity crisis, mono headlight and banana seat for starters.

No. That would make it even uglier

A sexy time bike it is not.

I'd buy one for my collection. That headlight is odd, but the rest of the bike has the same Ducati character, less extreme.

Everything, except the wheels forks and brakes

single headlight is ugly, whole upperfairing including the windscreen is ugly, mid/lower fairing is all bubbly, tail is bubbly and it has a banana seat with a grab handle. HUGE gaping hole between headlight and front fender (although I know that serves a purpose for air......but it's ugly)

It's certainly tinged with the 80's, and could use an update. I wonder when that will happen.

Oct 2006 issue of Sport Rider had it in a middleweights shoot out.

+
800cc engine has great character, stable and predictible chassis

-
Harsh suspension, wooden brakes, aggressive ergonomics

"It's truly a jewel in the rough, let down by it's budget suspension components."

I like the older SS body style a lot better. Get an 888spo and call it a day.

I was about to say something from that issue. I think it still looks cool.
