Default Suzuki SX4

I'm curious if any of you considered the '07 Suzuki SX4 as competition for the Fit? They cost a little more and you don't get as good gas mileage, but they do look interesting to me.

It seems like a great value and I've considered taking a look at them.

2.0L 143 hp @ 5800/ 136 tq @ 3500
AWD, 4 wheel discs
rear seats fold and tumble (like a reverse Honda "magic seat")

Default Re: Suzuki SX4 (Yellow Dragon)

Road and Track liked it in a recent issue. It weighs around 2800 pounds, so acceleration would probably be similar to a Civic (not the Si). I'd wonder about handling... and how it routes power to the front and rear. I haven't been a big fan of Suzuki interiors, but this one doesn't look bad.

I didn't consider one... partially because they weren't available when I bought my Fit, and partially because I specifically wanted a Fit (I wasn't shopping only by price). For someone simply shopping in the price range, they're probably not bad.

i'd like to see the new Mitsu Colt come to teh U.S., it's only $10,000 , has about 140-150hp (turbo's), adn still only a 1.5 liter, i think it also had AWD.

worse fuel economy AND less interior room? Sounds pretty crappy to me. If anything, they should have brought over the 1.6, and sold it as an econobox for $10k.

My SE-R died last night. Long story short I'm driving my dad's truck right now until I can figure out WTF I'm going to do. I'm considering this SX4. I really like the Fits, but none of the dealers around here have any manual tranny ones in stock. This doesn't make sense. I could buy a Civic Si easier than a Fit. I really like the Si actually, but I just can't really afford one right now. Not to mention it's really not all that practical for me. I've driven the Yaris and I'm not a big fan. Never found a Versa in stock that I could check out.

Todd, Sorry to hear about the SE-R Dying. Have you ever thought about traveling out of town for a fit? I know the fits are hard to come by. Why not just put an order in for one and drive your current vehicle till then?

Current vehicle = dad's truck. I sold the STi.

I've been calling around...it's been painful. I found one in Topeka, but the salesman was a jerkoff. It sounds like it's a test drive mule too with 150 miles on it. I don't mind an automatic car being test driven and then buying it, but there's something to be said about people that don't know how to drive a manual and still want to test drive cars.

Yeah, I read the part about your dads truck.

How long are you able to drive it?

I'm very close to buying one of these. I really need a car right now. Honda dealers are telling me if I order a Fit manual I can get it in 3 months. People on the other Fit forums are saying that's being overly optimistic. Some of them have said it's already been 6 months and still waiting...

I'd say that it's worth making the drive to a dealership that DOES have some Fits (even if it's kinda far), as opposed to shelling out a similar amount of money for a car that has less room than a Fit, yet gets worse MPG. The trunk in the SX4 looks tiny. I'd rather buy a Yaris 3dr and save some money (initial cost AND better mpg wise). Good luck in any case.

I was really interested in this when I saw AWD but it has a few options that you might find good bad.

SX4:

Has a button where you can turn the AWD on/off based on your needs.

Only engages AWD when the front doesnt have traction.

After 36 mph the front rear bias is totally disengaged.

I was hoping it would be permanent AWD but now I dont find it worth the money...

Fit or Civic FTW.
