Default h22 gurus: PLEASE HELP

so, heres the deal..... i recently droped a 94 jdm h22a in a 97(obd1) accord lx(non-vtec). im currently running the stock p13 ecu. my o2 sensor is not currently hooked up. also my cam and ignition timing is way the expletive off. the problem is my vtec is not ingaging at all. it is wired directly to the ecu, we re-wired it..... still doesnt engage, we put my friends p28 on it, and it still doesnt engauge.... we also checked the solenoid.... the screen is clean and when we tested the solenoid directly to the battery(when the car was off) it clicked over..... but it was waaaayyy quieter than say a d series solenoid.... PLEASE someone tell me why my vtec isnt enguaging.

cross posting sucks,

your going to get the same answer here as you did in the prelude forum, fix all your other problems and then work on vtec.

you want to get it working, do the work...... ign timing first.... having the timing too off will damage more than a o2 cel, especially when the cams change over(vtec).... can we say bent valves ;x thank god you didnt get into vtec yet :/

It's probly in safe mode from the o2 sensor code anyways so it's not allowing vtec to engage, get that fixed and ur timing then u should be good.

If ur o2 sensor is not hooked up and the cel isn't on that's a problem in itself. U sure u got it plugged in and aren't talking about the secondary o2 sensor that isn't in use anymore. Obd2 ecus look for 2 o2 sensors, while obd1 ecus just look for the o2 sensor b4 the cat, that's the one u need to have hooked up, the second one isn't required for an obd1 ecu.

just to add my 2 cents the second o2 sensor acts like a report card on the effeciency of the catalytic converter changing over the exhaust gases. And I agree with the posts above fix all fundamental problems with motor and etc. and try again
