Is The Fit Worth It?
Im 17 want a first car...my choices are the Scion tC, Honda Fit, and an '05 Toyota Corrolla S. I was wondering what are the pros and cons of this car, and how they compare to the other two. Thanks.
I want a fun car to drive that is quick and has room for modifications and room for 4people. Im kind of leaning towards the fit. But I need to know the differences between the sport and the regular. Is it worth the extra $$$$?
Thanks.
Thanks.

OK...
tC, uses a Camry engine. Sport Compact Car even used the TRD supercharger and a bunch of other crap and still found it to be pretty sluggish. It looks like a pocket BMW, but even the gas mileage isn't so good. THere's a side airbag recall out on it right now.
Honda Fit- people are having issues with paint on bumpers peeling. It's roomier and more versatile, with various seating configurations to fit things or people, but the quality of materials are going to be less than that of the Scion because it costs less. It's the best econobox out there right now, but the new Civics cost almost the same and are a lot nicer on the inside (i've been in both). Fits don't have a dead pedal, which bother some people. Fit and fit sport differences: Fit sport has alloy wheels, front, side and rear lips, spoiler, cruise control, automatic paddle shifters, and fog lights.
05 Corolla-
The corolla's overdue for an overhaul. This thing hasn't really changed since 99 except a few 'updates'. The inside is godawful. I sat in one and I immediately noticed how bland it was. Bland and cheap materials. I immediately jumped ship and looked at the Honda Civic. Civic is 100x better They're outdated in style, outclassed by Honda, and almost everyone has one, so it's pretty boring. Not that a HOnda is any different, but at least you have the big aftermarket...
Just go to a Honda and a Toyota/Scion dealer and check them out. Usually hte Honda dealer will have a fit in the back waiting delivery to someone and you can beg them to at least go look at it. Then look at the Civic (much better than the Corolla), the tC, and the Corolla. If you want, look at the new Yaris S. They get better fuel economy than the fit and the Civic, but you can hear an echo in the car because the whole inside is made out of just hard plastic...you feel really cheap in it...but that's what your first car is, right?

Ha, thanks man. Are the Fits hard to get or what? I keep hearing people complaining about not being able to find them. I test drove a tC the other day and I liked it, but i didnt like the fact that the insurance on it is almost double than that of the Fit, and the gas mileage sucks. I rode in my friends '04 Corolla just a few hours ago and did not like it at all. I like the Fits interior from what ive seen and the exterior is awesome, very different. So basically the only difference between a Sport and a Base is the lips?
Oh, one more question...please dont tell me the antenna is in the front of the roof like i have seen in pictures. Say it aint so. Thanks.

The big thing between the base and the sport is the paddle shifted 5 speed automatic...that's a really good feature.
I looked at the wait list at hte local dealership and it said it would be 3-6 months for one...and they don't build them for you, when the one you want is sent to them, it's yours...sucky but that's how it goes.
Anyway, I dont know where the antenna is but there are plenty of alternative styles that will work, i know a few that have swapped the antenna.

Yea it also comes in manual, but the paddle shift lets you up shift and down shift by thumb paddles on the steering wheel that's the cool part. Stock and aftermarket spoilers are available.
Yeah I know what the padel shifts are. Im a valet at Marriot, but Im wondering why they put it on a fit. They are usually on more high-class cars. I like that the Fit has them. I think ill just get a Base model Fit and mod it later. Can you buy a key-less entry kit for it?
Thanks Again,

Here's a comparo, with even more specifications in PDF format, I dont know what people are doing with keyless entry, but the Sport has it included.

if you rlooking for a manual Fit. i wish you the best of luck because they are dissapearing. dealer suggested i forfeit my search for a black 5spd manual. they said they are hard to get and it would be difficult to come up with one. so we talked about it, and i settled for the LX civic.
it should be here in a week.
i changed my username too. it used to be "eff iT". but im not gettin that anymore so yea.

The Fit sounds like a good little first car. B U T !!...How tall are you? Get this they don't get great gas mileage. 33 litres will get you about 340 Km's in warm weather. I don't know what you'll get when it gets cold out. I'm 6.2' and my gas foot is bent like it's broken when sitting with the seat all the way back. Good luck on your choice...Think about Mazda too.
Im 6'1 230 and have no problems "fitting" in my Fit.
I have a 5spd Sport and am getting excellent milage.
If you want a 5spd (and Id recommend that over the auto, although the auto is VERY good) go ahead and put a deposit for one down at a dealer and by Jan you should have one. If they get one sooner and you are not ready to buy, tell them you want a different color or something. Trust me, they will not have a problem selling it to someone else. Also, if for some reason you change your mind, any reputable dealer would refund your deposit.

Good luck, I hope you enjoy it. Everyone else seems to
Check around here and the "other" site that shall not be named, but its members are "freaks", and learn as much as you can before you make your final decision- you can always get your deposit returned. It's a good car, but this is a very big decision!

Went to the dealer yesterday to look at the Fit and Civic coupe for my new daily/school. And the wait list is about 4-5 month. But I told them I want a Sport with MT and that is VERY HARD to find. But I was lucky they have a guy trading in a Black Fit Sport MT with only 6000 miles on it in one of their other dealership and they are going to certify it.
