new tire to replace my S-03
So, got a nail on the sidewall on one of my S-03, time to get new tires. Since the S-03 has been discontiued (before I can get an extra set) what's the next best things besides the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3? This is what I'll do with the car: occasional DD (2 -3 days a week, each time about 40 miles roundtrip), 3 - 4 lapping day a year. Suggestions welcome
I assume from your username that you have an Integra, yes? What size wheels?
I also assume from your location that you care about rain performance as well as dry weather...

Correct and Correct!
Wheel size is 15 x 7
And yes driving in rain will be part of the equation since the road will be wet (not necessary standing water but wet) about 1/3 of the time.

It's too bad the F1 GS-D3 isn't available in 15" sizes for Integras (195/55-15 or 205/50-15), since it's otherwise a great choice for daily driving, rain traction, and the occasional lapping day.
The options I describe in this previous post apply to your car.
Unfortunately, no single tire available in 15" sizes does everything well. I would recommend doing one of the following:
1. Get the Kumho Ecsta SPT ($48/tire after rebate in 195/55-15, $44 in 205/50-15). It offers very good dry traction, outstanding rain traction, and lasts a long time (30-40K miles), and as you can see, the price is a steal. It's not the greatest tire for those lapping days (if it's dry), but it's decent; if you're just starting out with track driving, it's fine.
2. Get the Falken Azenis RT-615 ($72/tire in 205/50-15). It offers outstanding dry traction, but it's only so-so in the rain and it wears pretty quickly (10-12K miles). The poor treadlife and rain traction make it not a very good choice for daily driving.
3. Consider getting a second set of wheels for your car. That way, you can get a set of Kumho SPT for your daily driving, and also a set of Azenis RT-615 (or R compound track tires) on the other set of wheels for your lapping days. This option is especially appealing if you've got a lot of track experience.
