I wouldn't say they kick ***, but it's a nice improvement with some quality gears, V-AFC, and tuning. Without those three along with the cams, it's kind of pointless. See my bio for my setup.

*raises hand*
valvetrain - not needed unless you rev past limiter, or good for safety precautions anyway.

what else do you need to know?

Yup, you can't go wrong with OEM parts and of course they are JDM so they have to be good. You'll see decent gains just by dropping in the cams. It's something I see in my future.

i gained about 5-7hp up top by just droppin them in. should get at least another 5-10 with tuning.

thanks for the replies..

i cannot build a fast car, but i'm still craving for reliable power that will get me into at least mid 14 sec.. do you guys think this is the right choice for the money i'm spending? (about 600 for cams, and 200 for skunk2 gears)

Well, you could always take that $600 and buy a nitrous kit and be into the low 13's like its nothing.

Is it true that 2000-2001 usdm type R cams are the same as civic type R cams?
