Short Shifters (Yup, Again)
I'm considering purchasing a short shifter, hence the inexpensive price. I'm leaning towards a SS Skunk2. Just curious, by installing shifter bushings it's basically going to firm everything up? Is it worth it? Also, how easy is the install and lastly, what are some good places to purchase short shifters? Thanks.....for answering all of my many questions.
ARe you talking about that bushing that "stabilizes" the shifter? If you are concerned about that you are concerned about the wrong thing. I have the prothane bushing and I cant tell a bit of difference.
Working beneath and off the ground, I think short shifters are a PITA.

Skunk2 makes a badass short shifter, solid and heavy too. Shifter bushings (the one by the transmission housing esp) make a huge diff, makes ur shifts so much more solid, like a click click. it's worth the 10 bucks

I have a cheap (~$20 from eBay) short throw shifter w/ Neuspeed bushings (both bushings)... We installed it just last night, along with my header and the rest of my ITR exhaust. It's absolutely great. I've heard about people having problems with cheap short shifters, but mine performs perfectly for me. It's very easy to switch gears and it has a good feel too.
The install wasn't too difficult, but it's helpful to have two people (one has to hold a couple bolts w/pliers, while the other undoes the nuts underneeth the car). We did mine when the b-pipe was off the car; I hear that makes things easier. As for the bushings, they were a little trickier... My friend installed them, so I don't know all the details, but one bushing was easy and the other bushing (round w/ a hole, like a donut) was a real pain to get in because it doesn't flex at all.

Yah, I've heard just that aluminum shifters (DC Sports in particular) are prone to snapping in half, something that I could live without. I've decided I'll spend the extra and get the bushings, but do you guys know any good places to get them? Specifically the Skunk2? Also, thanks too.
