Default Good Paint Jobs...

I am thinking about repainting my car. I have an estimate from maaco for like $450 with clear coat and all. However I have herd things about maaco some good some bad (more bad lol). However I see alot of 4th gen luders with some clean fresh lookn paint. Either they have kept it in imaculate condition or they got a paint job. I am getting a kit put on, and even tho my paint is in decent condition, I would like it to be fresh black like my dads TL. What are yalls recommendations? Can I do this myself and save me money? What are some of your experiences with this? I searched topics but havnt found exactly what im lookn for.

Maaco's cheapest for a reason.... complete with half-assed work.

You pay for what you get. painting isn't the hard part. It's the prep... 450 is not a lot of labor for prep work.. so it will probably look alright, but in my opinion be no means a GOOD paint job. And with the price it's probably not a base/clear job. It's probably paint that has clear in it. I'd expect not to pay less than a grand for a decent job. And more for a GOOD job. Probably looking around 5k at a reputable shop and immaculate job. And that's for a simple color.. nothing fancy.

Might I be able to do the prep work by myself? Im getting it painted black again, Night hawk black pearl (Acura TL paint), so I dont need door jams and other things painted either.

from my experience with maaco... it won't be NHBP... close... but not exact. You can prep by yourself and you will save a lot of money. Just do it right... and better than they would

If you have a compressor do it yourself.

You can get any color from any car you want right here, just get the code from it.

I had maaco paint a car... job was close to a grand. It was supposed to be EBP. You can see it's EBP by itself but next to real EBP it's a little richer. Job was ok... not bad but there were obvious imperections. You get what you pay for... so..
