which turbo kit to get??? fmax, drag gen 3, revhard, what
well, i have a 94 itegra rs, and ive been reading about all of these and i just dont know which to get, so far im thinkin drag gen 3, cuz i found one that comes with a to4e turbonetics monster, but im just not really sure though, i was also thinking about just selling the integra and getting a 2000 subaru impreza 2.5rs, and turbo that, but u guys need to help me decide fast!!!!!!!!!!!haha, thanks
Here's what I think
1. Buy a WRX if you can afford it.
2. If you can't afford it, stick with the teg and do a custom setup. The fmax setup is crap, greddy kit comes with too small of a turbo, and the drag kit doesn't have enough included to do it safely.

dont speak out of ignorance. if you are familiar with a drag3, then i take my flame back... but dont put down a kit that many boosted b18s got out there. the only thing that i found to be discouraging about a drag kit is the oil return lines. a few extra stainless steel lines and fitting... and that problem is takin care off. the drag3 kit has lots of power potential in my opinion. im sure alot of other people out there will agree.my opinion... if you can afford a WRX, go for it. if not... boost your teg with a DRAG3 kit or a Revhard.
my car beats WRX anyday..not too mention RX7, 3000GT VR4, numerous GS-T GS-X, the only a few respected cars that actually beat my car was another turbo honda....
I boosted 8psi daily...

Let me go ahead and reword what I said about the turbo kits- most of the kits out there aren't 100% complete. Some kits have some things, while others don't- such as injectors, fuel pump, fmu, etc. I'm a fan of custom turbo setups, and that is the path I will be going on my GSR.

custom setups arent exactly going to save you money either. many H-T members who went turbo, sold their fmu and inline pump and used that money to help pay for the hondata dn injectors. its not a loss at all. the extra lines and fittings you buy to "upgrade" the oil return stuff you get in the kit doesnt cost that much at all.
While I'm sure a larger turbo seems attractive for more power, you also get massive turbo lag. Unless you're looking to build up your engine, lower your c/r, and run shitloads of boost, most of the turbos out there are a bit oversized (have excessive lag relative to the amount of boost u want to run). I would not rule out some of the smaller turbos if ur keeping ur internals stock. Of course I could be talking out of my ***.

I agree with you, the Greddy kit is good for stock internals, or mild boosting (can go up to 20psi). But, it being a smaller turbo, spools a lot faster. To quote Honda Tuning, ...once boost kicked in around 4000rpm, the tires were scrabbling for traction... or something to that effect.

From a purely drag launch perspective turbo lag can be useful. But since most of us lead normal lives and are not professional drag racers the GReddy turbo is much more appropriately sized.
[edit] By no means is the GReddy turbo small. We're not talkin the same thing as their SOHC kits here. This is a Mitsu TD05H-18g which is only slightly smaller than the particular trims of T3/T4 that tend to come with Drag, RevHard, etc.
And f-max is junk.

i am all motor now...but i plan on turbo again later on down the line. i will go with a drag 3 (best kit on the market hands down) with a motec stand alone,440 injectors, fully built block. yea,i would get a wrx and i might when i sell my car in 2 years...but i chose drag3 once and ill choose it again anyday over the other kits on the market. just make sure the install is done meticulously.
