Default 5/4/02 E-Town race results, did horribly, didnt break 13's but won 3 rounds of eliminations anyway

Guys wassup?

The race at E-town on 5/4/02 was cool. Got to see a lot of vendors and nice "pro" racers.

anyhow, my Teg did terribly. I was running low 14's all day, and thats was with full body, full interior, 1/2 tank gas, and 21 psi in the tires. My best run was a
14.275 @ 94.72 MPH. I was hoping to get deeper into the 13's but it seemed like it was gonna happen what a disappointment.

On my other runs I was getting higher MPH trap speeds...my best MPH was 98.18
with the worse being 94.72. My best R/T for the day was a .500

I was missing 3rd gear on many occasions.

Here's the deal. During eliminations, I eliminated my friend, and eliminated another 2 people as well....when I went back to the staging lanes of B2 there were 4 other cars left besides me. I'm in the lanes trying to shift gears and wasn't able to get into 3rd, and had a hard time getting into 1st as well. Unfortunately I had to quit and go home cuz I didnt want to risk breaking anything, and man I was soooo close to the end, just like 2 rounds away from second place, provided I gone that far.

Anyhow, looks like I may need a new tranny soon.....

I was in a bad situation Sunday(didn't go saturday). i tried to run the Allmotor Pro class. I was only allowed 1 qualifying pass with a cut off for the field being 11.6. Having just finishing the motor and not knowing what it was going to do...i took a stab at it. Here is how it looked

60'-1.771
330'-5.175
1/8-8.529
mph-78.31
1000'-11.156
1/4-13.325
mph-104.73

not only did the car hesitate in second for a bit....but i missed third for like 200' plus once it went i gear...i went from 9mph slower then my competitor at the 1/8 mile....down to 2.5mph slower then him in the 1/4. i was gaining fast.

that was the end of the Pro qualifying...so i said...let me try to get a run in under the bracket classes.

i launched soft and took my time shifting. car is completely untuned and in desperate need of it(you can feel it needs it). I then ran 12.432 @ almost 108. Its coming along.

well. field is allowed to run at 1725lbs. i weighed in at 2278. i gut a spare set of stock doors and hatch. but...i put in the stock hood instead of the carbon fiber one...and added a 6point cage with 4 cross braces inside the main loop. so...i added some weight after taking alot out.

Hey charlie, I didnt even see you there running. Lips, car looked like it was moving, but you can see that he was having problems going down the track. In my eyes the event was not all that. Most of the event coordinator's make everything possible for race cars and not street cars, wich is not fair to the public. The only cars that had a chance of winning were the 9-10 sec all wheel drive cars because of the street class. They should of had a frantic four for every class and payouts, etc. Nice bikini contest though. lol

i totally agree. NIRA format was way better for the public and people wanting to get involved in racing. i think this event was a huge success for the NHRA considering the turnout....but joe racer was stuck in bracket racing or spectating.

i'll be at Atco on the 19th and 20th.

not to instigate ... but I will once again

so Lip and Dennis_the_Cop were 300ths of a sec a part with Lip leading the lower et, then the Cop busted out a 12.401 and took the lead again ...

anyway, when Lip gets his tranny he'll get another shot at the title. Oh btw, Lip, I recorded an interview on video from DTC, he basically said he's not worried about the country bumpkin from deep south Jersey, sounds like a grudge match to me ...

Oh yeah, props to DRT or Ralphy aka RacerX, in the Hot Rod class he had the crowds on both sides of the bleechers on their feet when he ran against Lisa Kubo, took her at the light and was a close race all the way but she literally inched him out ... man that was a damn good race.

BIG CONGRATS to Matt Scranton, not only he got the team $25K from Summit Racing for hitting the 200MPH barrier, he SHATTERED it with 202MPH, I have it on tape.

where is John, he at one of the races or something ?

oh yeah, I have video clips of the hoochie mamas with the yellow skirt thingys ... taking them off HOOOOOOWL, so funny when the girls started doing that behind the bleechers everyone left the stands to go take a look ... LOL me included. You gotta see the video clips.

How does ralphys twin-turbo setup operate, are they sequential or not? They both looked like identical turbos.

That manifold seemed pretty small for 2 turbos, but I know nothing about manifold design so who knows.

Ralphy uses both turbos in line, no sequential system. KOOKS Brothers made the custom manifold for him, and NO, they are not too small. The Turbos are small, and spool relatively quick, he has some gazuunti slicks up front to help off the line, I have some video footage of him launching you can tell that it works.

Charlie, nows the time for a nice GBR built tight gears LSD tranny ... but its not your tranny thats ***'d its your throw out bearing.
What a nice guy I am, huh ? I could have sold you a whole tranny

Thanks for the reply, it's an impressive setup for sure. I'm impressed with the manifold, it's a work of art. I noticed a badge on it but could not tell who made it. The turbos may be small, but still looked like t3/t4b's from a distance.

Who is the skinny black guy who i've noticed working on the drt cars? I remember him driving a red issuzu a year or 2 ago, or something red and unique.... Does he still race his own car???

LOL, thats Shorty, he's god friends with Burt at ProSpeed (A mitsubishi tuner who owns a 10.5 sec Talon). They do hybrid Mitsu's with Talon engine in the Mirage chassis. You prolly just saw him race it a few times. Shorty is a good driver thats why he drives. He's more on the Honda side, he owns a couple Hondas too and thats what he races.

Heh, thanks.. I've seen him around, talked to him once or twice when he was driving a red mirage about 2 years ago. No wonder that car I could never understand why he was the driver, but I soon noticed he was a good pilot, and a light one at that. No wonder that damm mirage was so fast!

Hey Farmer Jeff , What's up????
Just wondering when your next tranny harvest is coming in.... Early summer I hope... hahaha. i wish I did use your slicks at the event.... I took a wheel base measurment to see if the alignment was off and the results were really off. driver side front tire to rear tire was noticibaly longer then the right side ... This could be due to the little accident I had, oh well... Looking foward to racing you when both our gremlins are solved.... When is the next event??? to tell you the truth I was very un-impressed with the event, I mean the pro cars were great, but Joe racer got stuck in the brackets... they should've made it more competitive/fair for everyone....just my two cents.... I'll talk to you later bro....

Atco the 18th and 19th.

I'd make the 11th and 12th if my wife wouldn't put a foot in my *** for ditching mommies day. Nopi NDRA Drags is setup like NIRA was. Problem is....that weekend is the only one we will see near us. So...sadly....NHRA again the following weekend. Your more then welcome to use my slicks if it works out that your racing and i'm not. I sprinkled a little lip on them for traction! Your right....for us? NHRA sucks ***. For the spectator...i guess it was fun. Glad you solved that one. I need an allignment bad!!! I'm waiting on greg for the tranny....hopefully he can get it to me soon so i have time for the install. I gotta hit a dyno soon within that time frame as well. I found a really really good dyno facility that wants to help me out...but its a 2.5hour drive South of me. I think i might have to do it though. They are building up a skyline there and i want to see it.

good luck dennis
