Is it worth it?
Would it be worth it to buy an s2000 with 100k miles on it? Meaning, would it be a reliable car, for say another 40k miles or so? I know it all depends on how it was cared for, but for under $13k is it really worth it? Hypothetically, if the car was properly taken care of (i.e. regular oil changes and scheduled maintenance) I'd like to know how reliable the vehicle would be once in the higher mileage zone, would it be more of a headache? Thank You
In general yes. Having said that you can't just generalise about cars.
Unless you can do a compression test etc on the motor we have no way of telling what shape the motor is in. Fo under 13K is it worth it? It depends on how much work the car requires. Just because it has a regaular oil change doesn't mean there aren't any problems with it (eg bent valve etc).
If you are asking if there are stock S2000s with more than 140K miles on the original motor - there probably are. I know of one person who did 100K supercharged miles on his S2000.

IMO its a honda, if you take care of it... it'll let you get 200k easily. if not then you replace the motor for cheaper than a new car and its back to new. just my philosophy
yes its worth it, these engines have a good life span, and are dependable. but drive it first, you can tell if the engine doesnt perform like it should...remember at 100k there will be a lil drop off in power...worst case scenario someone scored the internals, and you spend 4k on a stroker kit...well worth the investment....
when i put 30k on my s in a year all i thought was damn i paid 29k for this new and i could have bought a used s2k for thousands less and been in the same place...i have had no problems on any part of the s2k failing except for the brakes, and that was only on a prolonged downhill drive on a winding wide open mountain road where i would accelerate over 100mph, then brake to 70mph around the turn repeat this many times for a long period of time, and when i reached the bottom i rolled through the stop sign because i had overheated the pads....and yes i was properly engine braking the whole time, hell of a test for a stock car tho, wow what a road just wish they would close it off for some euro stlye, street races.
