Default Which pistons? OEM or Wiseco

hey guys
trying to decide what pistons to go with for my build. I am re building my gsr motor which currently had p30 pistons. I am trying to bump up the compression to work with my new head. I have heard ctr pistons are the highest compression OEM pistons as well as made better then the other stock ones. I need the pistons in 81.25mm. The other choice is to go with some wiseco pistons which I heard are good as well and are forged not cast.

here is my motor specs

Full gsr
block bored to 81.25mm
ported gsr head with skunk 2 pro 2 cams, pro valvetrain, cam gears, pro series intake manifold and 68mm throttle body with a hytech header. I want to be making over 200 to the wheels.

which pistons?

are you planning to go all out on your motor or jus stay daily driven. if you have smog your car i would stay with oem pistons like jdm itr pistons.

Wiseco/forged pistons would require different rods...

wiseco all the way if you want the power and compression .... and you have some money tied up in the head as well.... i thought about doing the p30's in my ls/vtec.... but chose the wiseco's with eagle rods and made 203 whp....with some tunning left in the car on an un ported b16 head

so if u go with aftermarket pistons(like wiseco), then u need aftermarket rods (like eagles)? Just trying to clear this up?

Pretty much yeah, you won't have fun trying to get the forged piston onto the oem rod.

I would go with JDM ITR pistons. You should get about 11.6:1 and you don't need new rods. I think you may have some clearance issues with the CTR pistons.

forged pistons are hella lighter than oem cast fyi.

they can be made to work on stock rods as well.

You stock pistons have to modified to work with aftermarket rods. Forged pistond will work with stock rods just like OEM

I don't want to go with the itr because I already had the p30's which are pretty high compression in a gsr block

I am aiming for 12.5:1 compression

choices are either ctr or aftermarket (wiseco)

CTR's will yeild more compression then what your looking for. Stick with P30 or jdm itr and shave the head some.

Yep, my IB spec Wiseco's fit on my stock GSR rods without modification.

btw, I recommend a slightly smaller TB, 66mm maximum, a 64 or 65mm would be more ideal. It depends on your desired powerband location.
Your setup is looking very good at achieving your WHP goal.

your 68mm will be fine. go smaller and ur gonna be starving for air. is your intake manifold port matched to your head?

I'd probably get JDM ITRs and mill the head .020-.030. The CTR's dome is scurry

yes

the pro series intake manifold is already ported to match the head

I am trying to get high compression that is why I was going to go with the CTR pistons

Wiseco pistons 100%

i WOULD ABSOLUTLY NOT put PCT/CTR pistons into a B18C... for one reason: you ever seen a combustion chamber on a P72 head? its flat on the edges. the PCT pistons STICK UP ABOVE THE SLEEVES... think about that for a second...

so.. OEM build = P30 pistons and maybe some ARP rod bolts..
aftermarket build = Wiseco/Endyn/ImportBuilders pistons and Eagle/Scat rods

thats a joke right? Eagle;s are Chinese made copies of Carrilo's...

so Carrilo > Eagle
