Default Skunk2 may enter sportbike market...

While reading one of the latest sportbike mags (I think it was Sport Rider, but I can't find it right now to confirm), I came across a feature where they tested a Suzuki GSX-R600 racing in the AMA's Formula Extreme class. The bike is run by Matsushima Performance Technologies (http://www.mptracing.com) and ridden by Danny Eslick.

In the article, engine builder Grant 'Yasuji' Matsushima talks about his engine developement partnership with Skunk2 racing. He says Skunk2 makes camshafts and titanium retainers for his racebikes, and works with him on rod and valve spring design/developement. The article mention's Skunk2's background in the "sport compact" market (no mention of the All Motor World Records, though), before adding that the company is considering developing and releasing a line of sportbike products in the near future.

Considering the number of "sport compact" enthusiasts currently moving into the sportbike world, a well-recognized name like Skunk2's might be a big asset. Pro 3s for a GSX-R1000, anyone?

GSXRs are for squids. Now they'll be rice-squids.

Good to see another aftermarket-manufacturer entering the world of two wheels.

Skunk2 sells cheap quality rebadged mass produced goods from Taiwan. Their customer service sucks *** and they have ripped off a lot of people. A good friend of mine worked for them and I should probably leave it at that unless he wants to chime in further.

I can't seem to find any of the threads but someone in /26 has the link in their sig.

Yeah Alex, I traded you my sprockets for your moto-tote, but that was before I knew what I did and hopefully you have not had any problems . I'm saying this so hopefully it prevents future problems for anyone else who may not know the risks involved with Dave Hsu (sp?)and his operation.

You won't see their products on my bikes or cars, EVER.

Yeah I knew there was something weird about Mladin and Spies. Now I see it. They're obviously squids...

Naw my engine blew up but the gears worked fine haha....

I wasn't trying to start a "Skunk2 sucks" "no SKunk2 ROCKS!" argument. Just sharing something I thought was interesting....

Wasn't trying to be a downer and I know you weren't trying to start a debate; neither was I, just felt obligated to give fair warning to fellow riders since not everyone who comes here browses the other forums much.

Yeah I really wanted to check out Mugen's HQ while I was in Japan earlier this month but I didn't have the time

Obviously I am the one with the Skunk2 link in my sig. Any company that is going to be stupid and insulting towards their customers (and there are more examples) doesn't deserve our patronage. They can go straight to hell.
