Default H22A Swap - Two Issues...need assistance.

Finally got my h22a in yesterday and everything went ok. Forgot to hookup the wire harness ground so i had no spark but i remembered that common issue. After that...she started right up.

I ran it for 20 minutes...resolved idle issues and whatnot...but after that 20 minutes a horrible sound was coming from the lower timing belt cover. A gear was eating through the cover! We stopped the engine...took off the crank pulley and the lower belt cover...couldnt exactly see WHY it was doing this. So we put the crank pulley back on and started it. The oil pump was coming OFF?!? Stopped it immediately.

I want to know when you guys do swaps if you buy an oil pump replacement as well. I changed the timing belt and the water pump with the swap. it's an JDM H22A purchased with approx. 66,000 miles. I did not realize if this is a common problem or not. I took the oil pump off of my bad h22 and its fine now but scary. Glad the pump screwed up when we were testing it in the garage.

The second issue is my clutch. it isnt getting any pressure. We have bled the system numerous times. Could my clutch slave cylinder be bad? It isnt even moving when i pump the clutch but fluid does come out of the bleeder. Since it was $21 i just bought a new one.

I appreciate everyone's help that got me as far as this.

Correction:

It's not the entire oil pump thats bad. I had oil pressure and everything. The right lower sprocket was coming off. I do not know exactly what it is but I used mine from my old h22.

It would be the gear in the #2 illustration.

Are you talking about the balancer shaft gear case? That gear doest come off to easy. Check to make sure it was installed correctly.

Yea would be that gear in the #2 illustration...doesnt have its own number though. I believe we installed the one off my old motor correctly using the tick mark on the outside of the gear.

Did you torque the bolts to spec? Did you install the thrust washer that sits behind the balancer shaft gear? I you installed it and its failing more than likely something went wrong. If the case gear is comming off it looks like there might be damage to the gear case. Check to make sure its not bent. Are you sure the gear is comming off and not that the timming cover is intalled wrong? Which would be weird.
