Spun bearing #2 cylinder tips
My D16z6 spun a bearing on the #2 cylinder about 8 months ago and now I'm getting around to rebuilding it. From what I understand, I need to get the crank reground and get some oversized bearings to compensate for the regrind. My brother figured it out. He said the rods are fine, but there are metal flakes all over the place from the bearing casing and a small small chip out of the #2 cylinder wall all the way at the bottom. I am planning to replace the oild pump when i rebuild, as well as the water pump. So my questions are:
Based on the location of the chip in the cylinder wall, am I going to have problems when I rebuild? Basically is it worth it, or am I gonna have worse problems a few months down the road?
Is there anything else that you recommend that I replace?
Any tips/tricks, or is it pretty straightforward to get the crank done, reground, new bearings and back in?
Thanks for the advice.
