Default b18b1 with itr pistons

see i have a b18b1 with built head and i want to get some pistons now. i was told that i can use itr's pistons and p30's too? so just wanna know what with pistons would be good for 11:0:1 compression ratio tha itr's, ctr's, or p30's? thanks for your time guys.

P30's = 11:1 and will install with no modification of rod or piston, just what you want.

well tha p30's are 10.4.1 and itr's are 11.0.1 is it better with itr's or tha p30's make a ls go up to 11.0.1 even tough they are 10.4.1? i have tha same set up on my ls as your gonna get. just tha built head makes it fast i cant wait to see what tha pistons do.

P30's are 11:1 in a B18B using stock rods and require no modification to the rods.

PR3's yeild 10.8:1 in a LS motor and can be found cheap.

JDM ITR's will be 11:1, but will need rod modification. USDM ITR's will yeild slightly less compression and need modification also to fit.

I have been toying with this idea also. And I know alot of other people would use this info too.

Is any tuning/fuel management required for this?
What if someone dosent have a built head?
Is it a good idea to just drop in som p30s or pr3s into a stock engine?

yeah id like to know also. Ive got a built and worked B18B1 head im ready to slap on with new higher comp. oem honda pistons. My problem is the guy thats balancing and blue printing the bottom end doesnt provide dyno or ecu tuning. So can I run approx. 10.5:1 -11.0:1 pistons in the motor with factory cams(no ecu tuning) untill I have it tuned with the agressive cams? I want to say Id be alright cause I would be upping the compresson on the same air/fuel as before(+or- alittle due to anglejob and polishing)with the oem camshafts and 93octane.RIGHT??!!?? feedback please

also, any one else running higher compression in a B18B motor? What OEM castings, and what compression are you running at?

ok i got that now but what about piston rings what kind do i have to use? since they are vtec pistons can i use those or do i gotta use other ones? cause jhpusa.com sells tha pistons with wrist pins for 199.00 and they sell tha rings their to so would it be ok to use vtec rings?

There is no difference between VTEC or non-VTEC rings. Get the ones fit for the pistons, the bore is the same on a b16/ITR/LS piston.

Go with the p30's - make great compression while not being too high for pump gas. If you can't get beyond 91 octane, perhaps consider pr3's/ Both are good choices.

So I assume these will drop right into a LS w/o any modification to the ECU, injectors, etc. I know you can use the same rods.

yeah,The rods should be fine. Ive talked to shops and none mentioned machining them when using oem 81mm bseries pistons. They only recommend using the ARP bolts to hold down the fort. Try cspeed racing .com they have a compression calculator thats awesome when trying to figure out compress. ratios, learance, everything related to honda piston, rod, head swapping.

Every engine is different, and two similar builds could react differently. But I did read an article where a builder used a B18B, PR3 pistons, 403 Crower cams and no tuning. He used the stock ECU, and the car fired up and ran fine. He even thru it on the dyno, no tuning, and put down over 150whp.

You will need tuning in my opinion, for three reasons. One to get a decent idle, two to extract the most power out of your setup, and three to have safe air/fuel ratios so your car doesn't go BOOM at high rpms.

P30s are JDM B16A pistion if I'm not mistaken and PR3 are USDM B16A. Correct me if I'm wrong please.

Say I ran P30s. All I need besides pistons and ARP bolts is posibly a good tune. What would be the most cost eficient way of tuning this setup.

PR3's and P30's are perfect with Crower 404's, but I hope you got some valve springs to go with them. As for tuning, dyno tune with crome.

No clear answers. Whats else to swap in these pistons into a stock LS?
