Hondata IMG
I don't have one done. But from what I understand, it reduces the temperature since it is plastic as opposed to metal. Metal obviously conducts heat better. I've read that its about a 2-3 hour install depending on how handy you are, but it is definitely not "easy". Its going to take some time, and since your messing with the internals, you BETTER be 100% positive everything that you disconnected is reconnected properly or you could have major problems. Not to mention void your warrenty. I personally will never do this, unless I decide to try to make my SI a monster and want to squeeze every last bit of hp out of it. Despite this, it's only about a $50 mod, and it is supposed to add 3% of hp (.03 * 197 = 5.9 hp), according to hondata's site. Do what you want, thats my 2 cents
It disperses heat transfer from the head and cools down the air temps. It may add 1-3 hp. It is a pain install and takes around 2-3 hrs.
Hondata have developed a special high temperature insulating gasket which replaces the stock intake gasket. This and bypassing several heat sources significantly reduces the transfer of heat from the head to the intake and incoming air giving you up to 5% more power.
