Default Bad Spark plugs and spark plug wires makes tapping noise??

If your spark plugs or spark plug wires are bad, would it make a tapping noise. Something that sounds like it needs a valve adjustment?

normally faulty wires and plugs will cause a misfire and some arcing...as for the noise i would recommend a valve adjustment as you questioned in your post

no, didn't notice HP gain, just got rid of the annoying tapping sound though. I can't notice any power because right now it's untuned.

If you have a bad wire it will make a ticking sound as it arc's off whatever it's grounding to. Like others said, it will run very rough as well. At night it will look like Star Wars under your hood if that was the case

Aftermarket header's will also create a louder "ticking" sound from the motor which is normal.

from wherever the wires are arching if that's the problem.
