Default where to have miata wheels machined in bay area?

i want to have the oem miata wheels from my 90 miata machined to fit my sisters 91 dx.

if anybody in the bay area has had this done professionally, please let me know where a good machine shop is for this, which bore size you specified, and what the cost was.

thanks in advance

Why don't they fit in the first place? My friend used to rock 92 miata wheels on his EF for winter.

the bore size on the miata wheels is a couple mm's different from the honda hub.

your friend either got them bored out, or he was dumbass and just slapped them on.

I did mine myself. I tried looking around for someone to bore them out without luck.

So, I got a large enough hole saw and went through 2 drills. It did the job.

these are what the miata wheels look like, but they actually look great on an ef after being cleaned up and center caps removed:

here is a pic on a honda, and they look even better on a lowered EF:

since im rocking the ssr's on the miata, i have no use for these wheels right now and am looking for some cheap upgrades for my sisters EF.

going to put on the miata wheels and then drop it with some cheap gr2's and like 1.75" lowering springs to clear up the wheel gap, and im sure its on stock blown to hell shocks right now anyways.

if i dont get a suggestion for a good local machine shop, i am going to just go ahead and bore the ******* out with a hole saw like others have done.

those do look sick

good luck with finding a shop (I would avoid the hole saw tactic at all cost)

Any machine shop can do it. All it takes is a lathe with steel bits and five minutes per wheel, max. Too bad you're going to pay $200 to get those worked enough to go onto an EF. Pretty sure you could get not-***-ugly wheels for that price on eBay

I am sure you could take a dremmel or air grinder with a couple round sanding discs and bore it out yourself.

I would use #932.

ok dumb, dumber, dumberer, and dumbest.

1. actually i spoke to someone on h-t who had his miata wheels bored out for about 60 bucks, although i do not live LA so i won't be using that source, which is why i am using this resource to find the same kind of deal at a shop up here.

2. actually you could never find wheels of this quality/weight (see no. 5) on ebay for 200, which doesnt even matter because like i said, it can be done for much cheaper.

3. it also wouldn't matter if i could get other wheels of greater caliber for the same price, because i have these wheels taking space and would rather throw them on my sisters car than hassle with selling them. not to mention, they already have great tires mounted, ready to go for her winter driving, and then tires on her stock steelies are on the way out.

4. they are not for my car. i am doing some budget modding on my sister's EF. she is a student and cannot afford bling bling parts for her car at this time, and im sure as hell not buying them for her, not to mention she'd buy a new car before ever pouring money into a 15yo econobox. but i would like to make her car a little nicer, and put on some nice alloy wheels to replace the stock steelies.

5. these wheels are incredibly light, do some homework, quite an upgrade from the stock steel wheels.

6. if you don't think this looks better than a civic on stock steelies, your taste is questionable at best.

and lastly, i would surely have some ****** panasports on my car if i wanted them. not quite the look im going for with the miata.

ah, im done, too many points to prove you morons wrong. im getting too old for this

Before you get started, can you call me Dumb, Dumber and Dumbest again? I just want to think about how superior you are when you're using a hole-saw-bit on aluminum wheels

Lmao, I completely missed that

@ Bigblock EK
Here's what I don't get, if your sister doesn't want to "dump money into a 15 year old ecobox" - WHY IS SHE PUTTING RIMS ON IT!? -- The steelies will serve the purpose of HOSTING a wheel just as good as miata wheels will.

Tell her to save her money, buy a good vibrator, and shut the hell up.

Can't have that **** both ways, either you want it blinged or you don't. Bling = PRICE, regardless of what kind, you want the miata wheel bling, PAY FOR IT OR DO IT YOURSELF...Either way will work fine.

Save the money for a real car maybe? **** I don't know, any of the following will work.
- pay somebody to do it (ANY machine shop)
- do it yourself (and GOD help you...)
- don't waste money on that decade and a half old eco shitbox
- don't waste money on rims that don't look hot to begin with
- if it's a budget mod build you may not want to waste $ on completely useless things such as rims

The rims will do nothing but upgrade your car aesthetically....but when you're dealing with a '91 DX you have to ask yourself if the rims will actually matter? You can't paint **** yellow and claim it's gold.

Here, I'll narrow it down even further b/c you don't sound all that bright:
- Get somebody else to do it (lots of $)
- Do it yourself (you'll probably expletive it up..but less money)
- Don't do it at all

**** man...

lol, now i have some ******* 06er from new yawk with a stock civic telling me how to build up a car?

that's pretty funny.

i've already repeated how i have the wheels taking up space, the tires have good tread, the tires she has on the car right now do not, and that serves plenty purpose right there.

******* morons.

haha, reading comprehension 101 ftw

anyhow, for the end results... i took the hole saw to them and everything turned out perfectly.

yay for me, douche bags.

thanks man, they are light as hell and look ok without centercaps on a lowered ef.

im not too excited about seeing them on very many other cars though.

ill be sure to get some pics soon. going to lower this thing on gr2's and some cheap used 1.75-2" lowering springs when some fall into my lap.

should be looking pretty nice pretty soon.
