Default Drum Brakes making noise...

First off its a 97 CRV but I'm sure you guys can help.

About 10,000 km ago my drums were making a shuffling/clunking sound whenever i braked. It made a sound at every revolution of the wheel ,first fast then slow as I came to a stop. I then took the drum covers off then cleaned them and the problem dissapeared.

The problem is back now and I cleaned the dust off of them but that did not help like the last time that this noise happened. Drum shoes look fine, is there a minimum thickness of the shoes at which they should be replaced? My car only has 170,000 km (not miles).

I'm thinking the drums should be turned. Any other thoughts?

With ~105mi on the car, I'd say they probably need to be replaced.

IIRC, minimum is about 4/32" when measured from the rivets.

We are close to that on miles and our rear shoes where shot. I also put some water proof grease on the spot where the shoes slide on. Now there is no noise.
