take it to any auto parts shop...they will test it for free and tell you whether u need one or not...
I believe your distributor may be going bad...

you can take it out, clean it and put it back in if its clogged. But u can pick up a new one for 80 bucks. But AIC happens when you're idling way too rough up high and drops down low...
Do you have any aftermarket parts installed? CAI(cold air intake)? SRI(short ram intake)?
An air intake can cause idle problems if installed incorrectly. If there is a
flapper (intentional or otherwise) in the intake and it is giving any sort
of trouble, it could certainly choke the engine at low air flow (idle).
Another problem could be an air leak but that'd mean the your EACV(Electronic and Air Controlled Valve) is attempting to adjust the idle speed to where it should be meaning it's working fine.
Sometimes all you need is a good idle speed adjustment.
First things first:
- Aftermarket parts yes or no?
- If yes then put the OEM parts back in the car and test it to see if the problem persists.
- clogged AIC
- air leaks
