I am currently attempting to replace my rack ends (inner tie rod end). I am stuck on the lock washer/removing the acctual rack end.

I have no idea how to remove it. There is no space to turn a wrench and the lock washer tabs appear to be impossible to bend up.

I need help!!

Do i need to remove more components of the under carrage to make more room or what?

 

It is a 1997 1.6 EL by the way.

 

cut the rack ends off right before hex part, then you can get a screwdriver on the locks, bend them away, and put a socket on the hex, remove it, clean threads of rack add locktite, put the new rack ends on. the new ones should have a larger hex area where a wrench will fit.
