Default Which Intake and how easy will it be to install it?!?!! PLEASE help!!

I am looking for an intake to put on my 97 lude. I was kind of wanting the AEM V2, but now people are telling me that its not worth the money to go with a regular CAI! What to do?! Is Injen that much quality wise behind AEM? I am planning on doing the install myself, and yes I am new at this, so can anyone give me some advice?! ANY advice would be GREATLY appriciated!!!! Thanx!! *kayla*

i can guarantee that everyone here will tell you to get a cheap ebay intake and use a good filter. i personally have a cheap ebay tube and put an apexi filter on it, seems to do the job. others say that a k&n filter good too. do a search youll find plenty of info.

Yes Kayla...Buy a cheap ebay CAI or SRI and get a good filter. Same performance as the AEM or INJEN. As for the install...Its very very simple...Search is your friend on Honda-Tech.

I wouldn't get the cheap ebay tube unless you want a short ram. My friend bought a "cheap ebay tube" CAI for his 5th gen lude. The fitiment was bad and the intake tube wouldn't fit through the hole to make it cold air. He had to run it as a short ram untill he got a used aem intake. if you are going to go the ebay tube way, spend a little more than 20 bux and don't get Dynasty auto or as we like to call it Dy(Nasty) auto.

I just bought the Injen CAI. I know most people on here say to get the ebay because they're cheaper, but I wanted to be sure of what I was getting and Injen is a proven brand. If you want to go ebay, thats fine. I'm just letting you know that the Injen fits perfectly. I can feel the increase in hp and I dont even have a header or exhaust yet. Install was very simple. The hardest part is taking the bumper off, but that still very easy.

Yeah I am thinkin about finding a cheap pipe and getting a good filter! OR maybe I will suck it up and get the regular cold air AEM. I cant make up my mind. I want something thats definatly good, nothing that will deplete my car. As for the police. We dont even to have checked emissions here. That is until next October. I am also not sure of what those emission checks are going to consist of. Dont want to make anything illegal. No room for drama with the police! lol U know? Thanx for all the suggetions!! If u have any more, PLEASE share! Thanks bunches! *kayla*

If you're gonna get Carb-exempt CAI, consider the IceMan. Unlike the other CAI's on the market, you don't have to perform sugery to place the lower part of the CAI into the area taken up by the resonator. Also, you can easily switch to a short ram during the winter/rainy season.

wow so much fuss

what i've noticed about ppl and their intakes.

1. ppl take most ppl's advice and get the proven ones (ebay, something cheap, good filter, etc)

or

2. ppl buy the brand name, then realize, wow i should have with #1

seriously, i've known at least 6 ppl that do that. afterawhile you realize intakes aren't the "make or break" aftermarket mod you want it to be

Its just an intake- i doubt for the price of a AEM or Injen and the magnificent 3hp gain you get you'll be happy- unless you pop your hood all the time and want people to see your not afraid to buy an intake for $150+ Just get a cheap ebay pipe kit for what...30-40 bucks shipped? A K&N filter goes for about 50-60 depending- thats a working intake for 100 give or take. If you want slap on a aem sticker- same gain- your just buying the name. My lude and my fiancees hatch both have the same sort of cheap pipe setup with a kn filter, it does the job. my 2cents.

I have a spray painted PVC piped cold air intake on my accord and it works just as well as the AEM cold air intake that came with my lude...go figure!

Wow, Taking the whole bumper off just to install a CAI?!? I installed one and didnt take the bumper off at all..Took a tire off and moved the fender lineing out of the way.

Whatever works I guess...But that seems to be a lot more work IMO.
