Ok I have a fully built 83mm gsr. It was burning oil so I took off the head and brought it to a machinne shop where he installed new valve guides and seals. I bought a new 83mm golden eagle headgasket, cleaned the deck surface and block surface with rubbing alcohol and reassembled. I have AEBS gsr head stud kit. I installed them into the head after it was placed onto the block and seated. I verified the dowels were in place before doing so. Also i used assembly lube on the cams and rockers. I torqued the head to 78 foot pounds.

After jacking up the car on the passanger side, i notice it was seeping.

The car has not yet been started ****

There is NO oil in the motor only a small amount of assembly lube.


Should I be worried about this ? See pics.

 

If there's no oil in the engine, how could it leak? That was probably there beforehand...

 

Are you sure that wasn't there before? Kinda hard to have oil seeping out when there is no oil in the engine

yea the head has been milled before. The motor was running fine, no leaky headgasket i only took it apart to change the guides...

are you retarded? The cam seal is on the top of the head on the distributor side. From the pics this seepage is coming from the t-belt side between the head and block.

Fil the motor with oil and continue to wipe that spot, see if its coming out still, make sure its really that.

 

before you call someone retarded, there are also 2 cam seals on the timing belt side.

 

I know some times they seep some around the oil return holes in the front , it just looks like it sqweezed out some , but I would run it b4 you start chasing done oil leaks ,

 

My guess there was either a flaw in the headgasket itself.

I always wash mine with soap and water before i install a MLS gasket.

Either the head or block could be slightly warped.

Did you make sure that your headstuds were installed level and there are none that are higher or lower than another?

No Oil = NO OIL LEAKS.

 

There is obviously some oil in the engine. what else will leave that color of a residue????

 

that "oil' is assembly lube.

When I installed my headstuds i did it with the head already on the block so I dont know if they were "level". I put them all hand tight as directed by aebs

 

im going to brake clean the area again and just run it. Headgaskets are 105$ for this and i dont have money to throw away. if i see its leaking while running then I will repair it.

Have you already installed the headgasket and torqed the head down. if you have then i think you will have to get another headgasket. i am prety sure they are a 1 time crush only.

Well if it keeps coming back there most be oil in there some where, and a good amount.

One time i put a stock GSR's headgasket on upside down and it leaked everywhere, before i started it.

 

its not upside down the SN is above the block deck plate. And the oil coming out is a mixture of what i coated on the headstuds + assebly lube.

If it leaks I will replace it I guess, just never had this sort of thing happen before.

yes, he said cam seal meaning the 1 cam seal on the dist. side. You say cam seal(s) when your talking about the cam seal(s) ont he timing belt side. Oviously it is NOT coming from the cam seal(s) because you would see oil seepage along the inside of the t-belt cover along the head. From the pics its dry and the seepage is coming from between the block and head mating surface.
