you can keep the old ones if they are in good shape and you keep the stock rev limmit.

if they are old or your unsure of the quality or you want to raise the redline then you NEED better springs. retainers are optional

If you are getting springs, get the 404's instead. Will see more gains.

Take a look at the Brian Crower (http://briancrower.com/) stage II cams. We tested them (along with springs and retainers) last month and were VERY impressed. The Hondata S300 tune file is going to be posted on Hondata's web site for a free download. They are bitchen cams. Zero downside. Every B20 on the planet should have a pair.

Watch Turbo Magazine for more details. We tested the BC stage II, stage III and a Blox Type-R style manifold. Good stuff. All tuning files will be free downloads from Hondata.

One of the guys I work with at Zerolift (TJ) has had 403s in his LS motor for a long time now - year or two? Stock valvetrain, stock(ish) redline -7500, no problems yet. They have pretty impressive gains versus stock LS cams, but I'd echo the suggestion of going with a larger cam if you're staying NA and buying valvetrain.

P30 pistons, crappy header, crappy intake, tuning
been on the dyno - don't remember how it did.
165ish I wanna say on the dyno dynamics... With the stock head and crap header/exhaust, there wasn't a point revving it higher than 7500. TJ has the dyno chart I think.

I'm bumping this from the past, but looking at the specs, aren't the Brian Crower stage 2s almost exactly the same as the Crower 403s?

Brian Crower left Crower and started his own company.

Brian Crower cams BC0022:

Adv. Dur. ------Dur @ .050----- Lift (in)------------Lift (mm)
300°/300° -----222°/220°------ .423"/.413"-------10.74/10.49

Crower cams-62403-2
Advertised duration--------Dur. @ 0.050"------------ Gross lift
264 / 264-------------------221 / 220-------------------422 / 411

The cams are quite similar in specifications for some reason

They are pretty close. The BC cams are ground with small diameter wheels that somehow change the ramp angles and get the valve open faster. Brian expained it to me once, but I am a retard, and don't remember exactly how it works.

Both CROWER and BC/Brian Crower are good companies with good products. Brian was the main import dude when he worked at his uncle's company and now he's got his on business.

So would i be correct in saying that out of the 404 and the BC stage 2, the 404s are the bigger cam?

actually ive been reading on these cams alot and im not sure what im going to get.
Is the difference between the brian crower stage 2 and crower 404 that big?
When would the BC 2 cams become "too small?"
These cams+valvetrain are going on an otherwise stock LS (i/h/e).
Im going to build a shortblock and bump the compression eventually, so im trying to buy the cams that are going to work well in both setups.
How is the idle with the BC 2 cams?
Sorry about all the n00b questions. Thanks alot guys.

I just picked up a AN-R header for $150, the cams are next on the list.
