Default Need Helps on Turbo

Hello Everyone~~
I am a newbie in here~~
I am planning to install a turbo on my car.
I have a Honda CIVIC COUPE LX 2003 1.7L
I have take a look on the ebay...but most of it are for SI or CRX
but kind of confused b/c it has a lot of information that i don't understand

what type of engine do i have ? Type A, B, D ?
Do you guys have any website that you recommend for me to buy the turbo kit ?
what kind of turbo kit should I get ? (I am looking for the speed when I take-off )
Is there going to be have a lot of technical problems after installation?
I want to spend about 2000~3000
is this budget ok to get a turbo or I need to spend more ?

thanks so much

I found this on ebay...
don't know if this turbo kit is going to fit my car or not ?
will it cause any problem on my engine after I installed this turbo kit ?
thanks for your help~~

Searching would have helped you. That FAQ section would, as well.

You've got a D17A1 in your car.

* 2001-2005 Honda Civic DX/LX
o Displacement : 1668 cm3
o Bore and Stroke : 75 mm X 94.4 mm
o Compression : 9.5:1
o Power : 115 hp @ 6100 rpm & 110 ft/lb @ 4500 rpm
o Valvetrain : SOHC
o Fuel Control : OBD-2 MPFI

eBay turbos will, most commonly, cause more harm than good.

Yes it will fit, but you will need plenty of components to get the turbo to function properly. And, there's no telling how long it will last, if you buy it off of eBay (a lot of the deals there are scams for beat up parts).

Once again, I would recommend to NOT buy parts like this from eBay. Go to a well-known parts dealer to get some quality equipment.

Best thing you can do is do some research mate. Somebody comes here and asks a question like this every couple of days... well either this or "what engines can i swap into my EM2?"

People will only give you short answers because they get sick of answering the same question all the time.

Look through the FAQ and use the SEARCH function as well as looking through the archived pages, you will find all that you need in there bud.

Actually, OBX manifolds are also extremely prone to breaking/cracking on the welds, because they're so poorly made.

kit looks ok, i sorta just skimmed over it.

You wont see as much power on an auto as you would a manual, but it should be fun, none the less.

I would watch out though, honda auto's arent really a strong tranny, so u might run into problems with it down the road.

if you want to boost a auto, i cant stress enough about the TCI Overhaul Kit. there are some guys running 13PSI DAILY using that. his user name is eye_see_you on 7thgencivic. he now drives a RSX but you can still see his reviews on his sig.

It's not an issue of difference in performance between auto and manual... But an issue of trying to push 75% more HP through a stock automatic transmission. You can upgrade a manual, but no so much on an automatic.

It all depends on your goals for the car.

lets put it this way, dezod says the following, " The system belted our 164whp & 142wtq on 5 PSI with an automatic transmision. THis is over an 80% gain in overall HP to the wheels. 5 Speed owners can expect 10-10% more power..."

ok got cha~~~

basically,
I just want my car to have more take-off power...
I usually drive local...about 50~60mph...
sometimes drive on the freeway...

quick question = >
-will my engine break down or have serious technical problems after putting a turbo kit on auto transmission ?

-Do I have to tune my engine after installation?

-I did research on PSI, but only knows that it's something run on turbo daily ?
what is PSI stand for?

(I did research in the forum but no result come up, just wondering do i put wrong words to search in the forum?)

thanks

Hey.

Psi = Pounds per square inch
Its the pressure of the air forced into your intake manifold.

Yes u will need to tune your engine after you turbo it (it will run without it, but the engine's life will be significantly shortened if you dont tune)

A good amount of PSI to run for day to day is 5-7 PSI. Since your car is auto, id run 6-7 PSI. should be good for 160-170 whp.

Depending on where you go, it'll probably be fairly easy to get some tuning down on your car, for a pack of beer (if you can afford it).
