Omni Power knocking issue....post here if you have this problem.
Hey guys, I've been doing some research and made a few threads on forums about a strange knocking noise coming from the rear end of my car.
it is not
-the wheels/tires rubbing the rear quarters
-anything loose in the trunk(stripped rear)
-not my rear strut/tie bar
Brief rundown of the issue.
I purchased my Omni coilovers last may from Terry @ boostfed(good guy). I set the adjustments for them with the spring preload, tightened them and installed them fine. Now I do work on cars on a daily basis so installing suspension is nothing new to me.
The car was great with the suspension installed...up until a few months later probably around October before the car went into storage I started to hear a knocking but didn't think much of it.
I stored the car and when I brought it back out, the knocking was still there but not as bad so I just dealt with it and thought it was something in my trunk. I stripped the rear a few months later when I had time and determined that my Omni Power Street Coilovers have a problem with them and this knocking is not supposed to be happening.
Whenever I drive on a smooth road...the suspension is nice and quiet, but once I drive over a sewer lid or pot holes regardless of how fast, you will hear a knocking from the rear of the car.
I have read a few threads and posted my issue and to my surprise...I am not the only one that has this issue, so the purpose of my thread is to understand how many other people out there have this same issue as me.
[this thread is not bashing OMNI power...I want to try to get all of us figured out that have this issue and contact OMNI power about this to get this resolved]
so post here if you have OMNI power coilovers(street or sports) and they make strange 'knocking' noises when going over bumps.
thanks

I have the same exact problem, I got my omni powers when they first came out like 2 maybe 3 years ago (bad with time). The knocking noise has been with me since a couple of months after I got them. Omniman is great with customer service and said to send them in and he would replace them, with a DD I just can't stop using my car for a month and wait. Still, wondering if there is anything to do about this and also if I can still get them replaced.
I have this exact same issue happening to me After about 8 months installed on my Accord 95 2dr. the street coilovers are making a knocking noise going over bumps. Its only coming from the pass front when im making a left turn and going over bumps. The rear does make this sound but, not as bad. I checked all bolts and balljoints and everything is ok. I did contact omni man and i cannot have my car down for the month it would take to get a new coilover. It sucks because i heard so much good stuff about this suspension and now this. I geuss my hard earned money is right down the drain.

Just an update!
I called Omni Power USA and spoke with a nice guy and he said to send in the 'defective' suspension parts( the 2 rears) and they will test them. If they are found bad they will replace them directly

I have the same knocking noice on my right rear of my crx only when i turn hard or when i go over bumps. I have the sport coilovers.
And I thought I was alone...
Using Omni street full coilovers on my EK. I've been using this coilover for around a year with none of the knocking sound on the rear. After being parked for almost more than a week, this knocking sound came up on bumps and bumpy roads.
I thought it was my recently installed sway bar but checked the end links and bushing and everything was still ok. So I guess, its really the rear coilovers...

have you guys checked your rear trailing arm bushings. that would definately cause knocking, and the problem is very common in hondas.

My trailing arm bushings are good...and I can guarantee you that if I threw on stock shocks + springs the noise would go away
dam...pretty shitty for all of us having this problem

you know its usually a swaybar or exhaust knocking things back there. the extra girth those types of suspension have increase the chances of impacting one of those.
if you (champwht) put a swaybar on recently, then i would imagine its just that. the exhaust is suspended with rubber hangers. grab the exhaust and shake it, see if it will move far enough to hit anything.

My car doesn't have exhaust on it (rusted off) and I have re-torqued everything back there and I chacked all the bushings and none of them look bad. I know it has to be the coilovers because I really don't drive my car much and it started when I put the suspension on.
Well due to the fact that when I had my coupe it was hard to send off the rear shocks when I needed the car daily, I parted my coupe out and just sent off the shocks to Steve @ omnipower.
We'll see what the outcome is...but if anybody is still having this issue check your pre-load and make sure nothing is loose. Mine was all tight and still making the clunking issue so hopefully they can replace those shocks

Bart, Omnipower is a good company better, probably better customer service then Tein and when I had my suspension issue.
Good luck man hopefully they get your shocks replaced
