Building crx
I have a bone stock 1990 crx hf. I would like to completely build a d16 non-vtec for a turbo set up. i am in the army and currently deployed so i am able to drop about 1500 a month into the car. i wont go vtec so dont even say it please its just a waste of my time and yours. so if theirs anyone on here who actually knows their **** about these motors please give me some advice on what parts to buy and how to build the motor. but keep in mind im deployed so it has to be things that can be done by my mechanic because i wont see the car for 10 more months. any "GOOD" advice would be greatly appreciated.

hate to break it to you, but your "mechanic" will rape the living daylights out of it once his is done with the set up, since you are going away for 10 months
just wait till you get back and work on the car yourself.

My brother is my mechanic and i know for a fact he is not "going to rape the **** out of it". one he already has several hondas that hes built, and two once it is done which will be about 10 months my wife will be taking it to my heated/air conditioned garage. Last time i was deployed he built my 1992 celica with a 3sgte and the same with it, it went straight to my garage. I just thought id give honda a try because i like the way the crx looks/handles/and performs. ive drove both a crx with a b16 and a crx with the d16a6. Well i dont know why so dont ask but i like the d16a6 better. im just not a big vtec fan. So if anyone on here actually has some good info/advice thats not judge mental or tellin me to go with another idea, please leave it on here i would greatly appreciate it. and if i dont reply to what you guys are sayin, well i dont get to use this internet alot, this place just dont allow it.

Ok heres the latest, i picked up a d16a6 for 150$, the motor is blown. my brother took it apart and said the motor looks good all the way around. So for the rebuild it will be gettin all forged internals(that i can possibly get for the a6). but i changed my mind about the turbo set up as the same guy i bought the motor from had a jackson s/c kit that he never even installed on the motor. i picked it up for 900$. so heres the plan now, i wanna go with the s/c, a mild cam, and a header back exhaust system. any ideas on what brand to go with for the cam and the header/exhaust systemn. i have a friend who just installed a header back exhaust system and he said it was from a company called megan. anyone heard of this company? he said he felt a really good boost in power expecially mid to top end, but i have never heard and i dont know, if this is a good company. thanks guys i would really appreciate the help.

WTF was wrong with it then if it all looks good but it was blown?

and why no vtec. its proven to make more power and i just dont like it is a gay reason to not go faster. ist like you dont even know what you are talking about. haha. and it might not just seem like that either

not proven to make more power when boosting a single cam. thats just a crock of ****.

ok ok i did make that part up. i have never seen vtec make more power on a single cam vtec setup. but it would be a little better to start with a motor with 130 hp or close to that anyway. right? or am i wrong again. i hate being wrong dang it.
"if your brother is such a God at honda engines..... why are you here asking how to boost the D16a6?"
"and why no vtec. its proven to make more power and i just dont like it is a gay reason to not go faster. ist like you dont even know what you are talking about. haha. and it might not just seem like that either"
ok at what point did i ever say my brother is a honda god, hes simply the only mechanic i trust with my money and my car and i know for a fact hes good at rebuilding engines. but i tell you what, you find the part where i said that and i'll give you a cookie, until then go expletive yourself. two its my choice/taste to go with the d16a6. its what i want to do. im tryin to build a daily driver that also has decent power and i dont feel like dealing with the headache of a boosted vtec motor. but i see on this forum all people seem to do is knock each other. thats all ive read since ive been reviewing this site. and i could put money on it that most people on this site are little teenagers that have nothing better to do than think they know it all and ask their parents for money everytime they want something. here i am in iraq and askin for ideas on how to build my car and all you wanna do is talk ****. meet with me in person and i guarantee you woudnt talk **** cause id fold you up and break your ***. i dont apoligize for being angry or people being ********. i just want help with ideas on what to do to my motor. and about the head being warped we thought the same thing. but he and a few others looked at it and said it was fine, but i think im going to buy another one anways. the block is off to the machine shop today at least. and my secondary mos in the army is a light/heavy wheel mechanic so im not dumb when it comes to engines. thanks for the help though to you guys who are posting useful infomation.

i didnt go with the ls because i want a good daily driver plus the cheapest b18 swap where im from, that ive found, was 4500$. i dont wanna spend that much just for the swap. then to have it rebuilt and the turbo and all that **** it would be more than i wanna spend. plus me and my wife are tryin to have a child so spending alot of money on building a huge race car would be pointless, she make me sell it. this car is about my personality, i like the straight clean jdm look, and i just want enough power to get my point across and have fun. i would rather the ls swap and go with some spray for when i need the extra boost, but i dont wanna spend 4500 just for the swap so. d16a6 itll have to be.
Whoa, I hope you're confusing the LS with a B18C swap, the LS should run you ~$1000 for the entire changeover.
I say stick with what you have. You already have the D16A6 and you seem to want a clean, zippy ride, not an uber-HP beast, so build the D16A6 using that parts list from Autoworks, tune it while shooting for a 200HP goal or so, then do a nitrous setup for those days when you want to get-up-'n'-go. There also is a large aftermarket for that motor and it's a stock option for these vehicles, no jumbling around with part interchange lists and all that junk.
Then you can start customizing the interior/paint/lighting/wheels to your liking. Good luck and
to you.

i already have all of the interior pieces and i have the suspension setup. i went with a skunk2 coilover kit and an eibach camber kit. im keeping the interior simple. carbon fiber seats, type r shift ****, spoon steering wheel.just small simple things here n there. and i have a 92 integra cluster im going to put in once i figure out what has to be done to the wiring(if anything?) on the outside im just going with the sir front lip and the original red paint with the black trimming. i wanted to convert it to rhd but i dont know anyone who could do it so i dropped that from my plans. the rims are flik fuel 15x7, bronze center with polished lip. their really nice rims. and no im not confusing the b18b with the b18c, theirs only a few people close to me that do engine swaps so they charge what they want. if i was home i would do it but i cant so i have to go with what i have. thanks for the advice though.

please leave you kentucky redneck!.
better yet, stay awile, read a lot, and post a whole lot less.
******* newbie troll.
why post on honda-tech to ask our opinions if you're going to just tell us to go **** ourselves.
do the US Army a favor and sit on a landmine.
you ****-smoking-19-year-old-know-it-all-douche-weasel. and that is some "GOOD ADVICE".

you can slang me and my name all you want. im mature enough to realize that making t-shirts for a living can be quite stressful. deciding which color to use can be just as harsh as watching a buddy die or get blown up. but if you wanna slang the us army, which you did before you edited what you said, that is a right that you have not and will not, most likely ever earn. but im sure that the almost 3000 soldiers that have lost their lives, several i knew and several being good friends of mine, wont mind you slanging what they died for. they only paid the biggest price you can pay for anything. second, what about my plans is complicated. if putting suspension on a car is hard for you, well. or maybe the interior pieces or the rims. or i guess you might be talking about the integra guage cluster. yeah thats just as much of a headache as tryin to correctly tune a boosted vtec motor. i guess i missed that part.
oh and if you reread what i posted, their was no us in go expletive "yourself", it was not "yourselves". sorry i caused you some confusion there. and if you find the part where i said i know it all, let me know. but i guess since "i know it all" i shouldnt be askin anyone here for advice, i forgot that part too, my bad guys. and yeah i am only 19, but im more of a ****** man than you will ever be. and ive done more with my life, and for this country than you could ever understand.

LS= B18A1,B18B1 Way less than $4,500!!! try ~$1000-$1200....DOHC no-vtec...lots of torque...low compression...loves to boost...endless cams, pistons, etc to chose from..1.8L...etc...widely available because everyone pulls them out of "LS" Integras to do VTEC swaps....
He's right....@ $4,500 you must be thinking of a nice B18C1 GSR VTEC swap....
Since you don't want VTEC, get an LS with a B16 cable tranny....reliable, lots of fun..B-series... lots of parts available...Cheap!!!
